The Nevada Statewide Mega10 Megakeno Progressive stands at nearly $2.3 million and rising. A ticket costs $1.50 and the Excalibur, Plaza, and El Cortez offer the better pay table for hits of fewer numbers than the progressive. There are also progressives for 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 numbers.

Let’s try this. Mark four groups of five giving you 20 total numbers. If you feel the 5-spot progressive is high enough to warrant your play (reset is $1,100) play the 5s as well as a separate ticket at the lowest rate allowed by the casino. Some casinos allow way tickets that include Megakeno with other rates, some do not.

The reason to play the 20-spot is in case you hit a fair amount of your numbers but the hits are scattered among many different groups. Thus your ticket cost is $7.50 for the 10-spot and the four 5-spots plus whatever is the minimum bet required to play a 20-spot. There are also six 15-spots but that would add considerably to your ticket cost if you play them.

The trick in catching a progressive to is have more numbers from which to hit the 10 numbers you need to hit. Of course the more ways you play, the higher the ticket cost. Trying to hit 10 numbers out of 20 the right way is a long shot but look at the reward if you get lucky.

Playing the 5s with the 10 gives you a chance for a medium size win if you can hit one of the groups of 5 solid. Then, depending on how many numbers you hit in the other groups you might have some good size medium pays. Let’s say you hit 10 numbers as follows from your grouping of 5-5-5-5, hitting them as 5-2-2-1.

Besides hitting the 5-spot progressive you would have a 10-of-20, two 7-out-of-10s, and a 6-out-of-10. Not a lot money-wise other than the solid 5 but these small pays give you playing money until you hit the big one. Playing at this level for any reasonable length of time using your slot card or account number should keep you well fed with comps you will earn from your tracked play.

Should you hit 10 numbers as 5-3-0-2 you would have an 8-of-10, which is good mid-level pay. As you can see, way tickets are the way to go. Best of luck!
