As we enter the final week of the NFL’s 2021-22 regular season, seven teams will be vying for three remaining playoff spots. Odds from the betting market can help us decipher those teams’ chances to advance to the postseason.
In the NFC, San Francisco and New Orleans will battle for the final wild-card position. Things are more muddled in the AFC. The Colts are the most likely candidate to advance to the postseason. Indy just needs a win against Jacksonville in the season finale. The final playoff spot will go to the winner of the Chargers-Raiders game on Sunday night, but the Steelers and Ravens are technically still alive heading into their matchup this weekend.
What do futures odds say about a team’s chances to make the playoffs? We leaned on our friends at DraftKings this week to provide the numbers and consulted our odds calculator to convert the prices into probabilities. Keep in mind, the true probabilities are slightly less than the implied probabilities because of the house edge bookmakers build into their numbers.
