It’s been an ugly start to the season for our Wong Teaser selections, which have performed on par with the Carolina Panthers. In the famous words of legendary coach Bill Parcells, you are what your record says you are: 1-5. The good news is we’ve got 11 weeks to make some hay, starting with this NFL Week 7 teaser pick, which features one road dog and one home favorite.

We are betting two-team, 6-point NFL teasers in this space with either favorites laying -7.5 to -8.5 or underdogs getting between +1.5 and +2.5. Wong Teasers cross through the most critical “3” and “7” numbers on both legs of the bet.

Wong Teasers are one way for a bettor to gain an edge on a bookmaker. Be sure to shop around at different sportsbooks that offer -120 odds on a two-team, 6-point teaser. In our examples, we’ll be betting $120 to win $100 on a Wong Teaser.

Saints (+8.5) + Patriots (-1.5) Week 7 Teaser Pick

New Orleans Saints (+8.5) over Arizona Cardinals

Let’s get this started on Thursday Night Football in a game featuring two teams who’re both 2-4. We’re rolling with the visiting underdog in New Orleans.

Through six games, Arizona has scored three points in the first quarter all season. The Cardinals are also riding an eight-game home losing streak.

Even in their four losses this season, the Saints have been a competitive bunch. It took a late TD pass from Joe Burrow to Ja’Marr Chase for Cincinnati to beat New Orleans, 30-26, last week. The only time the Saints failed to cover +8.5 points this season was in a 20-10 loss to the Bucs back in Week 2.

Arizona has been wildly inconsistent and anemic on offense this year. In last week’s 19-9 loss at Seattle, the Cardinals failed to score a TD on offense. Arizona had a FG from Matt Ammendola and recovered a fumble in the end zone. The Cardinals do get WR DeAndre Hopkins back after his six-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

We’ll still cross through the key numbers of ‘3’ and ‘7’ here and bank on New Orleans to keep this one close if not win outright.

New England Patriots (-1.5) over Chicago Bears

MNF schedule makers might like to take a mulligan on this one. This is a play against Chicago’s high school brand of offense more than anything else.

The Bears average just 15.5 points per game. Only the Denver Broncos have been worse in that regard through Week 6. Fun fact: QB Justin Fields has thrown for more than 200 yards in just one game this season.

Mac Jones is expected to return as New England’s starting QB, but even if he doesn’t, rookie Bailey Zappe is coming off a 309-yard passing performance with two TDs in a convincing 38-15 road win at Cleveland. Zappe was asked to do more through the air last week, and he responded in fine fashion.

As important, New England’s defense is finding its stride after consecutive shut-down efforts against the Browns and Lions. In their last home game, the Patriots blanked the Lions, 29-0. Detroit’s offense had been potent up to that point (and it still ranks third in the NFL at 28 points per game).

Conversely, Chicago’s offense is a hot mess. New England will be a top survivor pool pick this week and for good reason.

Week 6 Wong Teaser Result: Loss

Chiefs (+8.5) over Bills AND Packers (-1.5) over Jets

Despite losing 24-20 to Buffalo, the Chiefs easily covered the adjusted teaser spread. The game was never really in doubt from that perspective. However, the Packers failed to show up against the rejuvenated Jets and lost convincingly. In retrospect, we placed too much confidence in Aaron Rodgers without realizing just how bad Green Bay’s offense is right now. Live and learn.

2022 Wong Teaser Record: 1-5

Season Bottom Line: -$500
