As we try to wrap our heads around the Saints shutting out the Bucs and the Lions throttling the Cardinals, let’s turn our attention to NFL Week 16 opening lines.
The New England Patriots host the Buffalo Bills in an AFC East showdown on Sunday. The Pats had their seven-game win (and ATS) streak snapped by the Colts, 27-17. The Bills bounced back with a 31-14 victory over Carolina.
SuperBook USA opened this game as a pick ‘em last night, some three hours later it had moved to New England -1.5, and by Monday morning, the spread is up to Pats -2.5. The total ticked down from 44 to 43.5 at the SuperBook, but Caesars stood pat at 44 as of this writing.
Let’s explore the rest of the Week 16 slate with all market lines current as of Monday morning.
Live NFL Week 16 Sportsbook Odds
Thursday: 49ers (-3.5, 44.5) at Titans
This line opened at San Francisco -3, and it’s now 49ers -3.5 on most boards with Titans +4 available at some shops. After San Fran’s convincing win over Atlanta, the 49ers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games.
Saturday: Browns at Packers (-7.5, 45.5)
While this number is fairly consistent across oddsboards at Packers -7.5, Circa opened Green Bay -8.5. The Packers will try to win and cover their sixth consecutive game at Lambeau Field.
Saturday: Colts at Cardinals (-1.5, 48.5)
This game opened at Arizona -2.5 and it didn’t take long for the market to tip toward Indianapolis. DraftKings is among several books now offering Cardinals -1.5. The Colts are 5-0 ATS in their last five road tilts.
Lions at Falcons (-4.5, 44)
After Detroit’s upset over Arizona yesterday, the Lions are 5-1 ATS in their last six tilts. Also worth noting: The ‘under’ has cashed in five of Detroit’s last six road games.
Giants at Eagles (-10, 42)
The Eagles have won outright against the Giants in five straight games at home. Early call: Make it six.
Chargers (-10.5, 47.5) at Texans
L.A. will try to bounce back from Thursday’s’ stinging OT loss to Kansas City. Houston snapped a three-game SU an ATS losing streak with a 30-16 win at Jacksonville.
Ravens at Bengals (-2.5, 43.5)
This line opened Cincy -3.5, and early wagering pushed it down a point. FanDuel now has the Bengals -2.5. The Ravens have owned the Bengals lately, winning five of the last six games between the two teams straight-up.
Rams (-3, 49.5) at Vikings
L.A. has reverted back to its early season form. The Rams have scored 30 or more points in their last two games and covered ATS in each of them.
Jags at Jets (-2.5, 41.5)
In a nutshell: Two bad teams will be playing a meaningless game. This one opened up at Jets -1, but the consensus number is now N.Y. -2.5.
Bears at Seahawks (-7, 44)
Too little too late in terms of the playoffs, but Seattle is playing some decent football with two straight wins and covers. The Seahawks averaged 31.5 points in wins against San Francisco and Houston.
Steelers at Chiefs (-10, 46.5)
Pittsburgh kept its playoff hopes alive with a come-from-behind win over Tennessee, but this represents another challenge altogether on the road at Kansas City. This a rare occasion for the the Steelers as double-digit dogs.
Broncos at Raiders (-1, 42)
The Raiders have won and covered five straight home games against the Broncos.
WFT at Cowboys (-10.5, 47.5)
Despite some offensive struggles, Dallas is riding a three-game winning streak, both SU and ATS. The ‘under’ has cashed in all three of those games, too.
Monday: Dolphins at Saints (-3, 40.5)
The Saints looked like world-beaters on defense in an unlikely 9-0 win at Tampa Bay. The Dolphins won their sixth straight game yesterday with a 31-24 victory over the Jets. They failed to cover for the first time during that six-game span, though, as a 10-point favorite against N.Y.
