Time to pick it up, bookmakers!

After a second-straight week with just five winners, consensus picks in Bookies Battle 2022 are 17-30-1 against the spread through three weeks of the NFL season.

A heavy chalk lean did not work out well for the majority of contestants in Week 3, as underdogs hit at a 10-5-1 clip against the contest lines.

Eagles, laying a soft -4 at Washington, covered for 71% of our bookmakers, and Ravens -3 (at Patriots), Bengals -5 (at Jets), and Rams -4 (at Cardinals) also got there as favorites. Lions +7 (vs. Vikings) was the other winner for the consensus.

Who’s Picking Winners?

While Carlos Bastidas (Westgate Superbook) and Anthony Nevill (Treasure Island) each picked 11 winners to lead Week 3, the five contestants who picked 10 winners – including the two most recent Bookies Battle champions – all reside near the top of the standings.

A pair of contestants named CaseyLewless (Margaritaville Bossier City) and Degnon (Westgate SuperBook) — are tied for first heading into Week 4, with 28-19 records on the season. Kalen Carlisle (Wynn) shares first place in the standings.

At 27-20, Randy Madayag (BetMGM) – who won the 2020 version of this contest – and Robert Kowalski (Baldini’s Casino) are tied for second.

Just a point behind, we have defending champ Max Schmerin (Rivers Casino Pittsburgh), Michael Hastey (DraftKings at Casino Queen), and Seamus Magee (BetMGM).

There are two weeks remaining in the first quarterly contest of the season. The contestants with the most winners cash $500 and earn a spot in the playoff portion of the contest. With a tight group of several contestants near the top, this is likely to be settled via tiebreaker with the Week 5 MNF game between the Raiders and Chiefs.
