Neither the Denver Broncos nor New York Giants were very good in 2020. But both teams are hoping to turn things around in 2021 and would love to start the season off with a win in Week One. A loss would not mean hopes for a turnaround are dashed, of course.

But a win does build confidence which is something both teams could use going forward.

The odds have altered a little since they opened. FanDuel now has the Giants listed as a one-point favorite. BetRivers has seen fit to increase the spread to 1.5 points. What this tells us is that this could be a good, low-scoring game.

Denver Broncos

While the Aaron Rodgers dream is dead, there is still reason for hope in Denver. Yes, there is no telling what they will get from their quarterback this season. But the Broncos offense will get Courtland Sutton back, has an emerging talent in Jerry Jeudy, an excellent tight end in Noah Fant, and a multi-purpose running back in Melvin Gordon.

If they can find an upgrade at center, the offensive line can go from below average to one of the better ones in the league.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Broncos are in good shape. Von Miller’s return will help the front seven tremendously. They lost a couple of guys in the secondary. But between the draft and free agency, the Denver secondary looks better on paper than last season’s unit.

New York Giants

Fans of the New York Giants will find it hard to get excited about the start of the 2021 NFL season. It does not look like Saquon Barkley will be ready to go, or if he is, at full speed, in Week One. With his offensive line graded as the worst in the NFL (32nd according to PFF), it may be best if he sits until he is 100 percent.

Daniel Jones could potentially have one of the better wide receiver groups in the league. But even if everyone starts to live up to their potential, there is no telling if Daniel Jones will finally live up to his.

Defensively, the Giants are not in good shape. They have a solid secondary, a great interior defensive line, and one of the best linebackers in the league in Blake Martinez. If there is one sport they could use some help, though, it is at edge rusher.

They were unimpressive at that position last season and didn’t do anything to improve.

NFL Sports Betting Prediction And Recommendation

For some reason, about 65 percent of the bets and handle have been in favor of the Giants so far. While there is reason to doubt what the Broncos will do on offense this season, there is even more reason to doubt the offensive production of the Giants offense. Defensively, the Giants have a slight edge—but their offense is in bad shape.

Take the Broncos and the points.
