How to Read NFL Win Totals

NFL win totals are precisely what they sound like. The oddsmakers across the top sports betting apps set the number of projected wins for all 32 teams while pricing odds on the Over and Under.

Multiple factors determine these numbers. These include past results, roster talent, offseason acquisitions, and strength of schedule, to name a few. Before placing your 2023 NFL win total bets, take a deep look at each team to determine if they are worth betting the Over or Under.

When you place your win total bets, each team has a set number of wins, with odds for both the Over and Under. For example, the Kansas City Chiefs wins O/U is set at , according to Caesars.

Before the 2023 season, the Over on their 11.5 win total at Caesars had -115 odds (bet $115 to win $100), while the Under was priced with -105 odds (bet $105, win $100). This means the oddsmakers leaned toward the Chiefs going Over this number, expecting the defending Super Bowl champions to finish with at least twelve wins.

Keep in mind that all future bets, including NFL win totals, are paid out at the end of the season. Even if you take the Over on the Chiefs’ win total and they convert, you will have to wait until the end of the regular season to receive your winnings.

Highest NFL Win Totals

It is no surprise that the teams with the highest amount of projected wins also are among the favorites to win Super Bowl 58. While the Eagles are projected to have wins, the Ravens, Bills, Cowboys, Lions, Jaguars, Chiefs, Dolphins, and 49ers also have double-digit win totals at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Updated win projections will be made available throughout the season. This means we can see some teams just below the 10+ win projections, such as the Bengals, Browns, Saints, and Seahawks, with win totals exceeding double-digits.

Lowest NFL Win Totals

Of course, you can also bet on the win total odds from some teams at the bottom of the league. The lowest NFL win total belongs to the Arizona Cardinals, with BetMGM projecting 3.5 wins.

The next lowest win total is 4.5 wins, set for the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants. The odds on the Over or Under for each team’s respective win total often depend on the sportsbook.

NFL Win Total Predictions

Placing an NFL win total bet is exciting because it gives you something to root for or against all season. If you are having trouble finding a wager you like, here are our favorite win total predictions from both conferences. The odds are accurate before Week 8 at Caesars Sportsbook.

Colts Under 7.5 Wins (+116)

Quarterback Anthony Richardson is out for the year with surgery on his right shoulder. That likely ends hopes for Indianapolis’ season as well.

There are a couple of easier opponents in early November with the Panthers and Patriots. But really, there are a lot of tough defenses on their schedule, and the AFC South is fairly competitive.

Eagles Under 12.5 Wins (-110)

This Eagles have won seven games through their first eight but asking them to win six out of the next nine may still be a big ask. The remaining schedule features a tough slate with the following opponents: twice against the Cowboys, the Chiefs, the Bills, and the 49ers. The do have a bye week in Week 10, so remember to factor that in if you want to ponder which way to lean.

Vikings Over 7.5 Wins (-140)

Minnesota has won three straight and four of their last five games, with their only loss coming to the Chiefs. A recent win over the 49ers also adds a bit more credibility to their ascent than their other victories over the likes of the Panthers, Bears, and Packers who many teams have beaten this season. But really, this may be a good opportunity to grab the team even with the juice.

The Lions stunningly dominate the NFC North. The Vikings still have to play them twice, but there are a lot of weaker opponents on this schedule.
