NHL Player Props for Tuesday, October 24
For tonight’s picks, we highlight the following three games.
- Hurricanes vs. Lightning
- Avalanche vs. Islanders
- Canucks vs. Predators
Below, we have the total points markets for the highlighted matchups. These are the best odds available across the top sports betting apps we recommend.
Brayden Point – Over 0.5 assists
Live:
Tampa Bay’s clash with Carolina is expected to be a higher-scoring affair. Both defenses rank in the bottom of the league early, and the overs for both of these teams hit over regularly. That provides a prime opportunity for goal scoring, but we like one prop a little more than a straightforward goal.
Point has been held without a goal over the first six games, but he leads the team with seven assists. There will be ample opportunities for him to connect with an assist alongside Nikita Kucherov. Or on a power play, which Tampa Bay has a big advantage in this matchup with – TB has a 35% conversion rate while CAR has only killed two-thirds of them.
Nathan MacKinnon – Anytime goalscorer
Live:
Colorado has mowed down their opponents over the first five games of the season. Their closest game has surprisingly been against San Jose, a 2-1 shootout victory. They average four goals per game, and the Islanders have been in a bit of a struggle giving up eight goals over their last two games.
Generally, the Islanders defense is strong. But we anticipate the Avalanche to overcome that with their high volume of shots and powerplay opportunities. Nathan MacKinnon has three goals on the season and we like him to net another one here tonight. You could add higher risk for his first power-play goal of the season, but we’ll recommend an anytime goal.
Filip Forsberg – Over 3.5 shots on goal
Live:
To wrap up our recommendations, we’ll take Filip Forsberg to continue firing at will on the net. Believe it or not, Nashville is the third-highest team in shots per game. Their matchup against Vancouver could potentially be a close and high-scoring affair – that is if the home team isn’t affected by an unusual late start due to the staggered times of the Frozen Frenzy event.
Forsberg has been consistent offensively with shots on goal. He’s only netted one goal so far, but he’s taken four or more SOGs in five of the first six games of the season. We anticipate a similar volume of work tonight.
NHL Player Points Parlay at FanDuel
FanDuel Sportsbook is one of the few betting apps that offer odds for players to score 1+ points. There’s a high chance of top NHL players to get a point in a contest. A point is awarded for a goal or an assist, and there’s a potential for two assists to be given on each goal.
Note that this market may not be available on all matchups, or will be available closer to puck drop. At the time of publishing, FanDuel does have these odds for two of the players we highlighted. Alternatively, you could select Brayden Point and Nathan MacKinnon to both get a point tonight with -105 odds.
