This week I am featuring IGT’s Nurse Follies, which looks a little different from most other slots in that it has six reels (four icons per reel) and 20 pay lines.

The game icons include medical stereotypes: the young naughty nurse with somewhat exposed cleavage, an older nurse looking kind of threatening with a big needle, befuddled doctor and the bedpan that’s so cold it’s dripping icicles.

The Nurse Follies symbol is wild and also a scatter. It takes three Hospital Charges symbols on a payline to get into the bonus. The bonus screen shows a patient in his hospital gown being given his bill by the older battleaxe nurse on his left and the doctor on his right.

Dollar signs appear around the patient and point to various parts of his body. You then pick a symbol to get a credit amount or one of five bonus rounds.

These bonus charges you can collect on are the Typo, where you are presented with an amount which you may accept and go back to the original bonus screen or decline. You are then presented with a second amount which may be larger or smaller than the original. You can do this three times.

The X-ray in which you are asked to choose one of five items to be X-rayed reveals a multiplier to be applied to the bonus.

The eye exam shows a chart that flashes two letters. You pick one of the letters, then choose four more times.

At the end of the exam, you are awarded credits for each pick with higher amounts for correct ones. The wrong bill lets you start all over, keeping the credits you have already won. When Not Covered is picked, the Hospital Charges bonus is over.

There is also a Bonus that starts when you get a Daily Funnies symbol anywhere on the first and sixth reels. You get to select three of 12 Daily Funnies that reveal credit amounts that you win.

I started with $20 and played 2x line bet (40 cents.) I got into the Hospital Charge bonus and won $14.78. I hit a lot of 4 symbols, a couple of 5’s and even a 6. I cashed out with $32.24.
