NWSL Odds & Predictions: Week 4 Best Bets for All Games

For the first time in the 11 seasons of the NWSL, sportsbooks are offering NWSL betting odds for regular season matches. 

FanDuel is offering consistent NWSL odds for match results, as well as Over/Under goal totals. While there aren’t player props available yet, it’s huge that the sportsbook is offering odds for the regular season and not just the playoffs. 

Below we give our picks and predictions for this weekend’s NWSL matchups.

Houston Dash vs. North Carolina Courage Betting Odds

The Dash are off to their best start in team history but they’ve still only managed to come away with one win in their first four games. North Carolina is currently on a three-game losing streak.

Both of these teams have struggled to find the back of the net so far this season with each only scoring three goals through four games. For Houston, though, they’ve also been able to keep opponents off the score sheet having only conceded two goals so far. 

In terms of shots on goal, North Carolina is in 10th place in the league with just 14 so far this season. 

North Carolina is going through a rebuild with a lot of new faces and youngsters, so the slow start isn’t surprising. However, this game against the Dash could be one where they come away with some points to get back on the right track. 

Houston has looked dangerous at times and with the combination of Diana Ordóñez, Ebony Salmon, and María Sánchez up top, it’s only a matter of time before they start consistently scoring. 

Prediction: Draw +270

Racing Louisville FC vs. OL Reign Betting Odds

• Racing Louisville FC: +270

• Draw: +240

Racing added some much-needed experience to their backline during the offseason but they still have struggled defensively. They’ve conceded two goals in each of their last three regular season matches. 

The defensive side of the ball should be a major concern for Louisville as they face a Reign team that scored five goals in their last match. 

After dropping their season opener, OL Reign has gone on to win three straight, outscoring their opponents 8-2 in that stretch. The Reign look to have found their groove and it doesn’t seem likely that Racing will be able to stop them offensively. 

Prediction: OL Reign +140

Chicago Red Stars vs. Washington Spirit Betting Odds

• Chicago Red Stars: +105
• Washington Spirit: +230
• Draw: +260

Chicago was dealt a tough blow when Mallory Swanson went down with a season-ending injury while on international duty. A lot of the identity of this Red Stars team revolved around Swanson, especially after the club lost so many players during the offseason. They’ll be looking to bounce back from a tough 5-2 loss to the Reign. 

Washington hasn’t lived up to the expectations so far this season but they’ve still managed to go unbeaten through the first four games. With a tremendous frontline that includes Ashley Hatch, Trinity Rodman, and Ashley Sanchez, it won’t take long for the Spirit to start converting their chances.

This game has the potential to be very evenly matched but Chicago will need to lock up the defense if they look to come away with any points. 

Prediction: Washington Spirit +210

San Diego Wave FC vs. Orlando Pride Betting Odds

• San Diego Wave FC: -270
• Orlando Pride: +700
• Draw: +380 

From the start of the franchise, San Diego has looked terrific. It seems like they picked up right where they left off last season with three wins in the first four games. Their one loss was a 1-0 loss to OL Reign and that game is the only one this regular season where they’ve not scored at least two goals. 

It seems likely that the Wave will continue their nice start this weekend when they face the Pride. 

Orlando is another team that is in rebuild mode. They’re relying on a lot of new faces and the game plan hasn’t yielded results yet but it’s only a matter of time. So far, they’ve scored one goal and only created 10 shots on goal. They’ve got to figure out how to create more offense and that’ll be a tough task against a disciplined defense in San Diego. 

Prediction: San Diego Wave -270

Portland Thorns FC vs. Angel City FC Betting Odds

• Portland Thorns FC: -270
• Angel City FC: +700
• Draw: +380

Despite having a new head coach, Portland looks every bit like a team that can win their second straight NWSL Championship. Through four games, they’ve scored 11 goals and are led by reigning MVP Sophia Smith, who has already scored four goals. 

Angel City has been unlucky with injuries and this could be a different team when Sydney Leroux and Merritt Mathias enter the lineup but they’re struggling to get results right now. 

They’re coming off a tough 2-0 loss to their rivals, San Diego. One bright spot for Angel City, though, has been youngster Alyssa Thompson. 

This is going to be another tough matchup for Angel City and they’ll need to rely on the defense to keep them in this game. 

Prediction: Portland Thorns -270

Kansas City Current vs. NJ/NY Gotham FC Betting Odds

Coming into this season, Kansas City looked like a team that could win this league on paper but they were hit with a ton of injuries that have led to a rocky start. After just the third game of the season, the Current decided to fire head coach Matt Potter after a poor 0-3 start. They were able to get into the win column with a 2-0 win over Orlando Pride and they’ll be looking to continue that momentum. 

Gotham has got to be happy about the offseason trade that brought Lynn Williams to New Jersey. Williams has scored three goals with two of them being game winners. They’re coming off a tough 1-0 win against the Courage. 

New Jersey is off to a 3-1 start but this will be a closely contested matchup. 

Prediction: Kansas City Current
