Not the Week to Fade Favorites: Masters Predictions & Best Bets

Betting Favorites To Win The Masters

Scheffler and Mcllroy share the best odds to win the 2023 Masters at DraftKings, but Scheffler is the favorite across most sports betting platforms. Behind them are Jon Rahm (+900) and Jordan Spieth (+1600), both of whom, along with Mcllroy, are seeking their first Green Jacket.

Scottie Scheffler (+700, DraftKings)

Scheffler looks to become the first Masters champion to go back-to-back since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002. The No. 1 ranked golfer in the world has made seven-consecutive cuts and has made the top 10 in four straight major championships.

While he only has one major win, it came at this course, and since his victory, he has taken his game to another level, gaining almost one stroke per round coming into this year’s Masters compared to last year.

Rory Mcllroy (+750, Caesars)

McIlroy has done it all in this sport except win The Masters. That is the only obstacle left standing for McIlroy to achieve the career grand slam, which means winning all the major tournaments.

While he is still searching for his first Green Jacket, he has finished in the top 10 in nine of the last 10 years, and he even made a surprise surge to second last year on Masters’ Sunday, but it was not enough to knock off Scheffler.

At 33, McIlroy is only a few years older than his leading competitors at the 2023 Masters, and he can cement his status as one of the best of all time with a win at Augusta.

Jon Rahm (+950, FanDuel)

Despite having a difficult time at Augusta last year and not finishing higher than fourth in his career, Rahm comes in with some of the shortest odds to win the Masters.

He finished T-27 last year after four straight-top 10 finishes, but he is one of the hottest golfers on the planet, winning the Genesis Invitational, the American Express Desert Classic, and the Sentry Tournament of Champions just in 2023 alone.

A Green Jacket would put him in the same class as Scheffler, and it could come down to those two on Sunday, as Rahm is playing some great golf right now, and Scheffler is the defending champion.

Top Contenders at Augusta

Even though these golfers have longer odds than the top of the field, there are some familiar names with tempting odds, including Jordan Speith (+1600), Patrick Cantlay (+1600), and Justin Thomas (+2000).

Jordan Speith (+1800, BetMGM)

Speith won the 2015 Masters, beating out Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose by four strokes. In his Masters’ career, he has made the cut eight out of nine times, has two runner-ups, and has finished in third twice.

While he does not have a PGA Tour victory since April 2022, Speith finished T-3 at the Valspar Championship, and with his odds set at 16/1, he might be worth a play here, especially given his track record at this course.

Patrick Cantlay (+2000, Caesars)

Cantlay is one of the best golfers on tour, but he has not won a major championship and has only one top-five finish at a major for his career, when he finished T-3 at the 2019 PGA Championship. His track record at Augusta has not been much better, finishing T-39 last season and T-74 in 2021.

However, he has finished in the top 20 in five of his last six events, including a top-four finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and he was the runner-up at the Shriner’s Children’s Open.

Justin Thomas (+2200, BetRivers)

Not only has Thomas not won a Green Jacket, but he has never had a realistic shot entering the final day, despite a T-8 finish last year and placing fourth in 2020. Each time has been a slow start for Thomas, and he has not had the time to make up.

The 2022 PGA Championship winner has not fared well recently, especially with his approach shots, but at 20/1 odds, Thomas is among the more interesting names to watch for the 2023 Masters.

Tiger Woods Odds To Win 2023 Masters

If you are a golf fan, chances are, your eyes are glued to the television when Tiger Woods is playing at a major. There is a certain electricity behind him, even though he is well past his once-dominant form. One of the most decorated athletes in history, Woods’ odds to win the Masters are consistently among the most bet-on Masters futures.

Currently, Woods sits at +8500 at FanDuel to win The Masters, making him a longshot. For reference, when Woods took home his fifth green jacket in 2019, which felt monumental then, he was +1200. Since his win, he has competed twice at Augusta, finishing T-38 in 2020 and 47th in 2022.

At this point in his career, especially after a massive car accident that almost cost him his life, it may not be wise to bet on Woods to win The Masters, but there are other ways to get some action on Woods during the 2023 Masters. At DraftKings, you can select the “Tiger at Augusta” tab under the Golf section of the mobile sportsbook to see all the different Tiger Woods Masters specials.

Bettors can also place wagers on his odds to finish in the Top five (+1200), Top 10 (+550), and so on.
