USC is the betting favorite to win the Pac-12 football championship, but Utah and UCLA are also expected to compete for top honors this year, according to Pac-12 odds offered at FanDuel.

USC, at futures odds of +150, has a 40% implied probability of winning. The Trojans are coming off a 4-8 season, but USC’s lineup has been overhauled under new coach Lincoln Riley.

Utah defeated Oregon, 38-10, to win last year’s Pac-12 football title. The Utes (+300) are this season’s second betting choice at FanDuel. Utah’s implied probability of winning the Pac-12 title for the second straight season is 20%.

Making the Case for USC

Former Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley is now the head man at USC. Even better news? Former Oklahoma QB Caleb Williams followed his coach to USC via the transfer portal. The Trojans were awful last season at 4-8.

But the transfer portal can be a powerful tool in turning a program around in a hurry. Pitt WR Jordan Addison also joined the fold, as did USC’s probable starters at RB in Travis Dye and Austin Jones.

Betting Analysis

Riley’s high-octane offenses can usually be counted on to score a ton of points. But USC has major questions on the defensive side of the ball. The Trojans gave up 31.8 points per game last year, ranking second to last in the Pac 12. There’s not nearly enough value on betting USC at +150 to turn everything around in one season. Look elsewhere.

Best Value Play: UCLA Bruins (+1000)

Dorian Thompson-Robinson eschewed the NFL Draft to return for a fifth season as UCLA’s QB. The Bruins are coming off an 8-4 campaign that ended prematurely when their bowl game was canceled due to Covid.

UCLA also has a stud at RB in Zach Charbonnet. He rushed for a team-high 1,137 yards and 13 TDs last season. Like USC, UCLA’s defense needs to make some strides if it’s to challenge for a Pac-12 title this year.

Betting Analysis

The Pac-12 Conference changed its title game format this year. Instead of the North Division champion facing off against the South Division champion, the two teams with the highest winning percentages in the conference meet in the championship game.

They’re all members of the Pac-12 South, so UCLA will still have to outperform both USC and Utah in the regular season to earn a bid. But at +1000, that’s enough wagering incentive to bet that the Bruins can at least get past USC.

Betting on Utah? We Can’t Blame You

After winning its third straight Pac-12 South Division title in the past four years, Utah finally found a way to win the Pac-12 Championship game in a rout over Oregon. The Utes then took Ohio State to the wire in a 48-45 Rose Bowl loss that became an instant classic.

Utah returns a solid nucleus on offense, including QB Cameron Rising and RB Tavion Thomas, who rolled to 1,108 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground last season. Thomas turned down a shot at the NFL Draft to return for another season.

Betting Analysis

The Utes are riding a wave of success that could portend even bigger things for the program in 2022. It’d be no surprise to see Utah win back-to-back Pac-12 football titles. This is probably the soundest futures bet available at +300.

What Other CFB Futures Bets Can I Make?

Futures odds are offered at any time on teams to win the national championship. FanDuel offered Alabama as a +180 favorite to win the 2023 College Football Playoff Championship.

There is also a futures market to be the winner of this year’s Heisman Trophy. You can read about that more in-depth here, but Ohio State’s CJ Stroud is the favorite. Last year’s Heisman Trophy winner — Alabama QB Brice Young — is the second betting choice.

Futures odds are also available on season win totals for every FBS team across the country. That’s a lot of betting opportunities with 131 schools playing at the FBS level.

Always shop around for the best futures odds before getting action down on these markets. There can be a lot more variation and movement on futures odds, especially many months away from the end of college football’s next season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the favorite to win the Pac-12 Conference football title this season?

USC is the +150 betting favorite at FanDuel to win the 2022 Pac-12 football championship.

Should I bet on the Trojans since they are favored?

Not necessarily. There’s very little betting value being offered on USC at such short odds.

What other teams can win the Pac-12 football title?

Utah is a solid bet at +300 to repeat as Pac-12 champion. UCLA is also an attractive play at higher +1000 odds.

How much would a bet on UCLA pay if the Bruins win?

At +1000 odds, a $100 bet would return $1,000. You’d also get your initial $100 stake back if the Bruins win, too.

Is it legal to wager on Pac-12 football?

This depends on your state. We can tell you that sports betting has yet to be legalized in California, where USC and UCLA both compete. Peruse our sports betting page to see if it is legal in your state.

What team has no chance to win the 2022 Pac-12 football title?

Per FanDuel’s futures odds, Arizona has very little chance to win at +50000, but we never say never. According to our odds converter, the Wildcats have an implied 0.2% chance to win the conference.
