While they are certainly the most talented team in the Pac-12, they have a brutal schedule. USC has road games at Notre Dame and Oregon, and they will host other top Pac-12 contenders, Washington and Utah, as well as their annual matchup with UCLA. 

The Trojans will look to make a massive leap on the defensive side of the ball. They also need to replace the first-round receiver, Jordan Addison, and rely on a few transfer offensive linemen.

The Oregon Ducks have won 10+ games in three of the last four seasons and are returning one of the best quarterbacks in college football. When Bo Nix transferred in last season, many did not know what to expect. At Auburn, he struggled with his consistency but showed flashes of brilliance. 

In his first season with the Ducks, Nix completed 71.9% of his passes for 3,593 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also ran for 510 yards and 14 touchdowns, and he has a very experienced team around him, especially on the offensive line. Up front, Oregon has four upperclassmen on the starting offensive line, and they added a few transfers in the skill room. 

Oregon also has a lot of defensive experience, making the Ducks one of the most battle-tested teams in the Pac-12. 

Washington Huskies (+475, BetMGM)

Like USC and Oregon, Washington entered last season with a transfer quarterback taking the reigns. For the Huskies, they welcomed in Indiana transfer Michael Penix Jr., who became one of the most prolific passers in the country last year. 

He finished the season with 4,641 passing yards and 31 touchdowns, and he is bringing back one of the most talented receiver rooms in the Pac-12. With Rome Odunze and Jalen McMillan returning to Washington, Penix has an arsenal of weapons and is bringing back an experienced offensive line. 

Defensively, Washington is tough in the front seven, especially with Tuli Letuligasenoa, Bralen Trice, and Zion Tupuola-Fetui.

2023 Pac-12 Championship Prediction

Oregon State Beavers (+1000, FanDuel)

We will take a shot with Oregon State to win the Pac-12 this season. Last year, they showed progress in Jonathan Smith’s fifth year as head coach, winning 10 games, including against Oregon and beating Florida in their bowl game. The Beavers also had USC on the ropes early in the season, but the offense just could not push the ball down the field. 

Speaking of offense, the Beavers are bringing in former top recruit DJ Uiagalelei as their quarterback. While his career at Clemson was a massive disappointment, Uiagalelei has a fresh start, and he started to show some signs of life last season before being benched late in the season. 

All 11 starters on defense are upperclassmen, and they have a lot of experience on the offensive line.
