Calling all Cheeseheads! It’s football season so I thought I would hit a sports bar this week.

When you are looking for a good sports bar you want three things: One, lots of TV’s, two, good food, and three, a large selection of cold beer. Big Dog’s Draft House, located at 4543 N. Rancho Drive, checks all the boxes.

It’s generally not a good idea to call someone a Cheese Head in a bar, but in this one it’s acceptable as Big Dog’s Draft House is a Green Bay Packers bar and on Sunday the place is packed with Packer fans. You can reserve a table for Packers games with a $100 minimum deposit which goes toward your food and beverage bill.

Since I was going to be here for a while watching games, I started with an appetizer and it was a no-brainer of a decision as I went with the Wisconsin Cheese Curds. These are deep fried white cheddar cheese pieces and are served with dipping sauce. It’s a great snack to munch on while watching games and having a cold one.

Speaking of cold ones, Big Dog’s has you covered with their in-house brewed special craft beers. They had 11 signature brews and 14 specialty brews on tap the day I was there. In addition to all their own beers there were another 12 beers from guest brewers on tap. You will have no trouble finding a good craft beer to drink.

If it’s football season and I’m at a bar you know I’m trying their wings as my food choice. I’m happy to report the wings were excellent. I had a side order of their homemade chips to go with the wings. The menu has a good variety so you will find something for everyone’s taste. On Friday and Saturday Nights they have Walleye fish specials. I’ll be back to try it.

Since the games I was watching turned out well, I decided to celebrate with some dessert, and I can highly recommend the Brownie Sundae if you have room.

This was my first visit and I can tell you it won’t be my last. It’s a great place to watch the games, unless you bet against the Packers. Then it might not be as fun. The entire wait staff was very friendly and attentive to all my needs. I give Big Dog’s Draft House a rating of 3.75 forks.
