Don’t forget to play your 10-teamers!

The real stuff begins as college football season gets in full swing starting this Thursday; the parlay cards will be out so don’t forget to put in that 10-teamer once a week. If you don’t play one you can’t collect on one.

I love betting parlay cards and here are some of my key plays that I will be using this week.

Thursday, Sept. 2

Marshall +29½ at Ohio State 4:30 PM Big Ten TV: Many people are looking for the Buckeyes to sweep into the BCS Championship game and they just may, but they will take no chances losing any key players in this prep for next week’s huge game with Miami Florida, a team that still has not forgotten what happened when the “eyes” scored late and took them to OT and won the National Title.

Coach Tressel will not run the score up on anyone as they look to get the win with no injuries. This is a big time game for the Thundering Herd and the last time these two met back in ’04 they lost to the Buckeyes 24-22. MARSHALL +29½

USC -21 at Hawaii 8 PM ESPN TV: The Trojans with new head coach Lane Kiffin and some big trouble head to the Islands to beat up on Hawaii. This game opened at -19 but has moved up to -21 and with the 8 PM starting time this game could reach -24 so get out and bet the Trojans early. These two teams have met two times in the past 10 years with the Trojans winning both very easily. USC -21

Saturday, Sept. 4

Colorado -13 at Colorado State 11 AM : This has been a dog series for a long time as the underdog covers two out of three; last year the Buffaloes were a -12 point home chalk and lost 23-17. Colorado State +13

Illinois +13½ at Missouri 9:30 AM FSN TV: The Missouri RB was suspended last week and the Illini will be playing without their previous QB Juice Williams, who many see as a plus. There is big pressure on HC Ron Zook to post some good results this year or it could be bye-bye; we will take the points even though Mizzu has won and covered the last five meetings. ILLINOIS +13½

Northwestern -3½ at Vanderbilt 4:30 PM: The “Dores” lost their coach over the summer and the program is in disarray. The Wildcats are a dangerous team with an explosive offense and I doubt Vandy can match points with them. NORTHWESTERN -3½

Washington State +15 at Oklahoma State 4 PM FSN TV: This is one of those games that after it has been played you say to yourself, why didn’t I bet that game … it was such an easy win as this game has blowout written all over it. OKLAHOMA STATE -15

Cincinnati +2 at Fresno State 7 PM ESPN2: This is not the same Bearcat team that beat the Bulldogs last year at home 28-20 as a -17 point favorite. I have the utmost respect for the Steubenville QB Zach Collaros who is a proven winner, but he will need to put up a lot of points as he has little or no defense and a new first year HC Butch Jones. This is not a good spot to start your new program. FRESNO STATE -2

Wisconsin -20 at UNLV 8 PM VER TV: Tough start for the new home town head coach; I would love to play on the Rebels in this game but Wisconsin is a top 10 team and they always bring a load of fans with them and they have visions of a BCS game and will take no prisoners in this blowout. WISCONSIN -20

Sunday, Sept.5

Tulsa -7½ at East Carolina 11 AM ESPN2: Love the Pirates as a home dog; Skip Holtz left but the cupboard was not left bare. EAST CAROLINA +7½

Monday, Sept. 6

Boise State -2½ at Virginia Tech 5 PM ESPN (FedEx Field): I would have liked VT if this was a home game for them but being on a neutral site in Baltimore it still may favor them a tad. Boise comes into this game with visions of a National Championship, they have a one game schedule and have prepared all summer for that one game and if they get the win here it looks as though they can run the table barring any big injuries. BOISE -2½

Good luck and if anyone hits a 10-teamer please email me at [email protected]

Just a few race notes: this Saturday will be the last race comp Saturday at Palace Station so be there or be square as crazy Zack Goldberg will be giving the house away once again.

Some things just amaze me when it comes to the execs running some of these race tracks, like California trying to raise the takeout on exotic wagers 2 and 3 percent, like this will improve business. Are you stupid or something? It is no wonder your state is broke with dummies like you guys making stupid decisions like this one. But this one is really a mind blower.

Delaware Park will be offering around a 10 percent bonus on exacta wagers, so if your exacta pays $100 you will get $110; good idea? At first as I read about this I got excited and said I will take a look at Delaware which is a track that I seldom bet on, but as I read on I noticed you could only receive this bonus if you are betting on track (in person). Well, you idiots, the players that are going to the track will be there anyway and this will not bring anyone new but you could get a lot of new business if you made this offer to all outlets and why would anyone off-track want to play an exacta so that the on track bettors can get a 10 percent bonus while they get zip; no one can be this stupid.
