The Week 14 slate kicks off with a battle between two of the worst offensive teams in the league this year, the Patriots and the Steelers. Both will likely have backup quarterbacks under center — the Steelers have confirmed Mitch Trubisky will replace Kenny Pickett due to injury, while New England is expected to give Bailey Zappe his second start of the year on Thursday night.

Despite the Steelers’ offensive issues — they have scored a total of 36 points in their last three games — they’re 7-5 and remain in the mix for a wild card spot in the AFC. New England has struggled on offense all year, but this team has hit a new low in recent weeks, with just one touchdown in its last three games.

Patriots vs Steelers Analysis and Prediction

Based on the last few weeks, if either of these teams can score more than 10 points, that will be enough for a win. The Patriots held Justin Herbert and the Chargers to just six points last week, but never threatened to score and were not only shut out but held to just 257 yards of total offense. Mac Jones took most of the blame for his team’s offensive issues through the first 11 weeks of the season, but the switch to Zappe last week and the output with him under center showed that New England’s problems go well beyond the quarterback position.

Pittsburgh has managed to win a ton of ugly games this year. Another low-scoring victory on Thursday night seems likely for a Steelers team featuring an offensive coordinator, Eddie Faulkner, who replaced the fired Matt Canada in late November, in his third week as play-caller, and a backup QB (Trubisky) making his first start of the year.

Pick: Under (30 at time of publishing)
