The Penn State Nittany Lions have had Ohio State beat two years in a row, only to lose late 39-38 in Columbus last year and 27-26 in State College this year.

It took an “upon futher review” first down that must’ve been good by the width of a gnat’s eyelash, strong punting, a flurry of screen passes, and some incomprehensible play calling by James Franklin at the end of the game, but the Buckeyes escaped with a dramatic come-from-behind win last Saturday night in Happy Valley.

With Lions’ QB Trace McSorely running wild, Penn State should’ve had the Buckeyes down by 14, even 21, early. Instead they squandered away multiple opportunities and allowed Urban & Co. to hang around for too long. Eventually that’ll cost you.

Down by 13 with only eight minutes to play and 1,000/1 odds against them winning according to one in-game wagering site, the Buckeyes reeled off two touchdowns almost too quickly, leaving Penn State time to mount one last drive. Faced with a fourth-and-5, after exchanging timeouts, Franklin decided to have his QB hand off deep in the backfield, which the Buckeyes quickly diagnosed, smothering both the ball carrier and Penn State’s hopes and my money line wager.

Off a 3-2 winning week we will be looking to build on last week with our five plays.

LSU -2.5 at FLORIDA: We had the Gators last week and will come right back with them this week in Gainesville in this big revenge game. Florida lost to LSU here last year 17-16, and we see another low-scoring game. FLORIDA

Arizona State +2 ½ at COLORADO: Just love the Buffaloes QB, Colorado looking for some home cooking and some revenge vs. the Sun Devils from last year’s 41-30 drubbing in Tempe. COLORADO

UTAH +5.5 at Stanford: This will be our trend game of the week as the Utes have gone 11-1 ATS as a road dog of three or more points vs. a team coming off a double-digit loss. They catch the Cardinal off a 38-17 loss last week in South Bend. UTAH

SYRACUSE -4.5 at Pittsburgh: The Orange has covered all five of their games this year, they are the better team and have gone 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings vs the Panthers. SYRACUSE

TULANE +7.5 at Cincinnati: The Green Wave lost to Wake Forest in OT in their first game of the year when getting seven points, they showed they really played a great game last Friday, crushing Memphis 40-24 as a 14 point dog. Now they are looking for revenge from last year’s 17-16 loss in Cincinnati, take the points. TULANE

Last week: 3-2

Season: 14-21
