With thousands of poker players converging on the Rio for the World Series of Poker, I’ll continue to review places to eat that are close to the Rio.

After cashing my first WSOP event, I hit a place to eat that I have been to so many times before but never wrote about.

If you live in Las Vegas, you have probably been here before but if you haven’t or you are in Las Vegas for the WSOP, you should head over to Ping Pang Pong, located inside the Gold Coast Casino and is located across the street from the Rio.

Ping Pang Pong is open until 3 a.m. daily to feed those late-night cravings after a long day of Poker. This is not only some of the best Chinese food in Las Vegas but in all of the United States as Travel & Leisure Magazine named Ping Pang Pong one of the Top 10 Chinese Restaurants in America.

One of the best items to start any meal with at Ping Pang Pong is to get their Hot and Sour Soup. My fellow foodie buddy Marc calls the Hot and Sour Soup the best hangover cure ever. Trust me, he should know as he’s had this treatment many times!

Ping Pang Pong is famous for it’s Dim Sum. Come during lunch hours and you will see waitresses pushing carts around that you can get fresh Dim Sum right at your table. The cart is full of so many good items and is a great way to do lunch if you are pressed for time.

Some of my favorite dishes at Ping Pang Pong is the Lamb Chop Appetizer and Chicken Lettuce Cups to start with. As far as my favorite main dishes, I like the traditional Chinese offerings like Mongolian Beef, Sweet & Sour Pork and Kung Pao Chicken. The Garlic Butter Scallops and Shrimp are excellent along with the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass.

When it comes to a Noodle dish my favorite is one of the most basic dishes but it’s so good and that’s the Chicken Stir Fry with soft noodles.

Ping Pang Pong opened at the Gold Coast in 2001 and just went thru a major re-opening two years ago as all Boyd Gaming properties went thru major restaurant renovations. Ping Pang Pong was good before. It’s even better now.

The best way to experience Ping Pang Pong is with a bunch of people so you can share dishes and try a little of everyone’s stuff. Price-wise, all the dishes are very reasonable with big-sized portions. I give Ping Pang Pong a rating of 3.75 Forks.
