This past week I traveled over to the Westside to check out a bar and watch the games. What I found: Porchlight Grille (8416 W. Desert Inn Road), a great neighborhood bar with a cozy atmosphere, good food and plenty of TVs to enjoy the games.
If you are looking for a place to hang out and watch games they have a great set up with flat screen TVs all around the bar to watch your favorite team play. In the back of the bar area there is a nice set up with big couches and a giant 10 foot HD screen. This is absolutely a great way to chill and watch a game with your favorite cold beverage.
They have a pool table if you feel like shooting a game with your friends, or if you feel like some video poker you can check out one of their 15 video poker machines around the bar.
These items by themselves would be enough to get me to come in and hang out but I haven’t even got to the best part. The Grille has a huge menu selection to take care of the appetite you worked up watching the games.
As you know from previous reviews, when it comes to football chicken wings are going to be on the top of my list. The wings here were quite good with several flavors, including my favorite – the salt-and-pepper wings.
During the NFL games they offer food and drink specials. They have Bud Light pints for $2.50 and mugs for $4.50. The wings are just $6.99 during the NFL Games plus they run specials on sliders and tacos. I suggest trying a basket of homemade seasoned potato chips for just $4.
Another good appetizer I tried while watching football was their Mac and Cheese fritters. These are Panko crusted squares of homemade macaroni and cheese that are lightly fried and served with a side of barbecue sauce or marinara sauce. After tasting the marina sauce I will be trying their pizza and pasta dishes soon.
The burgers here are very good, offering a fresh half-pound beef patty served with lettuce, tomato and onions for $8.99. For an additional dollar you can pick your favorite cheese. They have Jack, Pepper Jack, Swiss, Cheddar, American or Provolone. All of the burgers come with your choice of fries or onion rings. They have several specialty burgers to pick from as well if you don’t want to build your own.
If you want to come in for dinner they have a separate smoke free dining room. There are several dinner specialties that start after 5 p.m. with some of the house favorites being their grilled salmon and the chicken piccata. They have several pasta dishes to choose from with the house favorite being their pasta carbonara.
If you want to come in for lunch, Porchlight has smaller lunch portions available until 3 p.m. daily. They also offer a full breakfast menu, available daily from 7-11 a.m.
So if you’re looking for a nice neighborhood bar to hang out at, grab some good food, have a cold one and catch a game I would highly recommend the Porchlight Grille. I give it 3.50 forks.
