Rams (11-4, 8-7 ATS) at Ravens (8-7, 7-8 ATS)
Betting market consensus line: Rams -3.5 (46.5)
The skinny: L.A. will be aiming for its fifth straight victory when facing a Baltimore team currently outside the playoff picture and trying to avoid its fifth loss in a row.
Facts: The Ravens, who were front-runners in the AFC North virtually all season thanks to their 8-3 start, are now seeded eighth in the conference and hopeful to get back star QB Lamar Jackson, who has missed the past two games with an ankle injury. It was reported he participated in Wednesday drills in a limited capacity with a pronounced limp. Coach John Harbaugh said Jackson’s status for Sunday depends on his progress the rest of this week.
If he can’t go, the Ravens are hopeful to get Tyler Huntley back from the COVID list after he sat out last week and was replaced by Josh Johnson, who was acquired from the Jets a week earlier. Huntley played in Baltimore’s 31-30 close-call loss to Green Bay in Week 15.
The Rams, who had been chasing the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West almost all season, finally passed them last week with their 30-23 victory in Minnesota, despite QB Matthew Stafford’s three INTs.
2019 flashback: Jackson threw five TD passes in leading the Ravens to a 45-6 victory in L.A., the most lopsided loss by the Rams since 2009.
Rams vs. Ravens Betting Analysis and Pick
Baltimore’s seriously depleted secondary was gored by the Bengals last week, with QB Joe Burrow throwing for 525 yards, just 29 off the NFL record.
Now Baltimore faces the tandem of Stafford and WR Cooper Kupp, who has 132 receptions, 1,734 yards, and 14 TD catches, all NFL-bests.
Also in L.A.’s favor is its pass rush, tied for fifth most with 42 sacks, going against a Ravens team that is tied for most allowed with 49.
And one more thing: West Coast teams crossing three time zones east have gone 14-4 SU and ATS this season.
Prediction: Rams 35, Ravens 21
Last week: 11-5 ATS, 12-4 SU
Season total: 117-120-3 (.494) ATS, 148-91-1 (.619) SU
