The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 in a tight pitchers’ duel in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card series.
Early odds on Saturday’s Game 2 from FanDuel list the Guardians at -118 and Tampa at +100. Caesars Sportsbook is offering a similar price on that game: -120 on Cleveland and +100 for Tampa Bay, which has lost six games in a row going back to the regular season.
The price is now -360 on Cleveland to win the best-of-three series, via FanDuel. The Rays are at +290, which means if Tampa Bay wins the next two games and you wager $100, you would win $290.
BetMGM has the Guardians at -350 to win the series, and Tampa Bay at +270 to come back to win it and advance to the AL Divisional Series. The best odds on the Rays are at DraftKings at +295 to come back to win the Wild Card series.
As a result of the Guardians’ victory on Friday, BetMGM has shortened the odds on Cleveland winning the World Series from +3500 to +1700. Odds for the Rays lengthened to +3500, as they are one loss away from elimination.

The star players came up big for the Guardians on Friday, leading baseball’s youngest team to its first playoff win since 2017. José Ramírez hit the home run that have Cleveland the winning edge, and ace Shane Bieber pitched one-run ball into the eighth inning, proving his postseason credentials.

The Guardians need only one victory in the next two days to advance to the American League Divisional Series against the New York Yankees.
Rays vs. Guardians Game 2 Pitching Matchup
Tyler Glasnow (0-0, 1.35 ERA) vs. Triston McKenzie (11-11, 2.96 ERA)
The Tampa Bay Rays are pinning their season on Tyler Glasnow, who has returned from Tommy John Surgery to make two starts at the tail end of the regular season. The tall righthander has thrown only 114 pitches at the MLB level in the last 15 1/2 months. But he has looked great off the mound so far after returning from a long rehab on his shoulder.
McKenzie is making his first postseason start, but it’ll be in the friendly atmosphere of Progressive Field in front of Cleveland fans hungry for the franchise’s first World Series title since Harry Truman was president.
It was only about a week ago that McKenzie faced the Rays. In that game, the slim righthander went six innings and allowed only three hits, one walk, and one run. That was a game that also featured Glasnow on the bump. Tampa’s Ji-Man Choi had two hits, including a double, off the Cleveland pitcher. That’s a matchup to watch.

Rays vs. Guardians Series Game 2 Prediction
The Rays have now lost six straight games and look lost at the plate. Only a home run by Jose Siri (who owns Shane Bieber) kept Tampa from being shutout on Friday.
We expect Cleveland to eliminate the Rays on Saturday in a game that might see a slew of Tampa pitchers. Starter Tyler Glasnow won’t be stretched very far, and Kevin Cash is forced to pull out all the stops to extend his team’s season. If Cleveland can put pressure on Glasnow early, the visiting team will feel the pressure to force a Game Three.
Odds for the Guardians to win the Wild Card Series are now at -360 (FanDuel), and you can get +300 on the Rays from Caesars (that’s the longest odds we could find shortly after the Game 1 outcome).
DraftKings has the Rays at +295 to win the series, and the price on Cleveland is -370. The oddsmakers at DraftKings are not yet impressed enough to move the line on the Guardians to win the World Series. It’s sitting at +2500.
