It’s the dog days of summer and we are still a month or so away from the start of the football regular season. So how do we spend our weekends?

I found the perfect way to beat the heat and have a fun day. Recently, I headed out to Red Rock Casino and started my day with their Weekend Brunch at the Feast Buffet. For $16.99 it’s All You Can Eat with Bottomless Champagne & Mimosas. To be honest, I have a few friends that would get their money’s worth on the Mimosas alone.

I arrived about 11 a.m. This way, I could eat and be finished up to head into the Race and Sportsbook and catch the second half of the Saratoga races and the start of the Del Mar card. There is nothing better if you are a horse player like myself than betting the Spa and Del Mar. The only thing better would actually be being at either of those two race tracks in person.

By going at 11, I was still in breakfast mode, so I started out with a made-to- order omelet followed by some waffles and pancakes. At the carving station you can get yourself some nice thick slices of oven-baked ham as well as plenty of crispy bacon and sausage.

You can get filled up just on the breakfast items. But this is a brunch, so remember to pace yourself as there is plenty of food still to be had.

After completing my breakfast portion of my meal, I took a five-minute breather to regroup before I embarked on phase two the lunch portion of the meal.

There are many items to choose from as the Feast Buffet has everything from peel ‘n’ eat shrimp and sushi to Chinese, Mexican and Italian dishes. They also have a nice carving station with Top Round Roast, Slow Cooked Turkey and Rotisserie Chicken. There is a pizza section as well with several different pizzas to choose from. If you like Tacos you can build your own from the Taco Bar. There really is something for everyone at Red Rock’s Feast Brunch Buffet.

For those trying to eat a little healthier there is a huge fresh fruit and salad section to build a nice cool summer salad. Full disclosure: I did not spend any time at the salad section, but it did look good. To me, salad at a buffet is just unnecessary filler. Besides I don’t want to fill up on salad when I need to be saving room for dessert.

Red Rock’s Brunch buffet has a massive dessert section with fresh baked pies, cakes, donuts and other pastries. They have a wide variety of Gelatos along with soft serve ice cream. There is something to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.

Having a nice Brunch followed up by a day at the races is a great way to beat the summer heat. And at $16.99 with bottomless Mimosas you can’t go wrong. I give Red Rock’s Feast Buffet Weekend Brunch a rating of 3.50 Forks.
