Regular readers of my column know I like to eat, so getting to write about all the great places in Las Vegas is fun. This week I’m not going to discuss a particular restaurant but rather talk about my favorite week.
Las Vegas Restaurant Week (March 7-14) is the one time of the year going out to eat helps out people in need. Participating restaurants will donate part of the price of the meals ordered during this week to the Three Square Food Bank.
Las Vegas Restaurant Week began in 2007 as a way to give locals and tourists the opportunity to help by dining out. This year marks the third annual Spring Las Vegas Restaurant Week (the fall event is eight years old).
Each of these weeks feature a variety of fine dining offerings at fixed prices across the valley. Proceeds from Restaurant Week benefit Three Square, Southern Nevada’s only food bank.
Three Square currently provides more than 30 million pounds of food and grocery product – or the equivalent of more than 25 million meals – per year to more than 600 Program Partners, including non-profit and faith-based organizations, schools and feeding sites throughout Southern Nevada.
Since its inception in 2007, Las Vegas Restaurant Week has raised more than $786,000 for Three Square, helping to provide more than 2.3 million meals to those in need in Southern Nevada. For additional information visit www.threesquare.org or www.helpoutdineoutlv.org.
This is a great cause as you get to help out by just dining out. This is a win win situation for everyone involved as all the restaurants should be commended for participating. It gives us a chance to try out new restaurants or go to our old favorites while helping out the less fortunate.
Visit the website to see a complete list of the participating restaurants. There are currently over 80 across the valley taking part in this year’s Restaurant Week and that list will be updated as more restaurants continue to sign up to participate.
I give Three Square and Restaurant Week 4 Forks out of 4.
