Race 1

In this 6½ furlong 75k maiden claimer we will use three horses, No. 3 Southern Defender who is the speed and No. 5 Cape Finisterre who will sit right off his heels and try and nail him down the lane. No. 6 Blake is a live first time starter out of the hot Cerin stable and he puts jockey Bejarano in the irons, this guy’s Dam has dropped five winners from five starters. 3-5-6

Key Play

$2 exacta box 3-5-6 for $12

$1 tri box 3-5-6 for $6

Race 2

No. 3 Souvenir Slew is a long time between wins but this back classer appears to be sitting on a win and jockey Espinoza get his second shot. No. 8 Heroi Do Bafra exits our HTW list, this 8yo gelding was big time awhile back but looks to be ready in this his second start off the layoff. 3-8

$2 double

2nd 3-8 for $12

$2 exacta box 3-8 for $4

$10 win and place 8 for $20

Race 3

I prefer to stay outside in this 6½ down hill turf sprints, in this race we will go with No. 7 Papa Bear a speedster from New York who finds himself in the barn of James Cassidy, No. 8 Shadow Of Illinois is an old pro (10yo gelding) who has made a living on this course, if he still has a little left in the tank he will be right there. 7-8

Race 4

No. 2 Sky Marni never got untracked in her last start for 25k and now she is dropped back down to $12,500 claiming price, she will wake back up big time in this much easier spot. 2

Race 5

The Super Bowl is this Sunday so we will use the hunch play of the day No. 4 Super Bowl Party a first time starter by the good sire Event Of The Year. No. 9 Juliano will get a great trip from his outside post and may be a good betting opportunity. 4-9

Race 6

No. 5 Soldier Betty exits our HTW list and looks set in this her second start off the layoff, we will use her with two girls exiting the same race, No. 6 Saint Cindy who gets her first start off the Jack Carava claim and she also gets a big time jockey upgrade and we will use No. 7 Angle Of Mystery who is the girl they will have to run down. 5-6-7

Key Play

$2 double

5th 4-9

6th 5-6-7 for $12

$2 exacta box 5-6-7 for $12

$2 exacta box 5 with 6-7 for $8

$2 tri box 5-6-7 for $12

Race 7

As the 3yo colts try and weed themselves out of the wannabe Kentucky Derby hopefuls and the real Derby contenders we find ourselves with these first level allowance races. This race goes 1 1/16 and two of the five have been that distance. No. 4 The Program has had three shots at this distance and failed all three times but he did improve last time and sometimes it just takes a while with these growing 3yo. No. 5 Jairzihno is in from over the pond and he did run this distance on the grass but his only win came on the grass going 6 furlongs. The stranger danger in here is No. 3 Get A Grip who is also in from Great Britain for trainer John Sadler and what I like about this 3yo colt is that his last race was a handicap win on the Kempton synthetic surface going a mile. He has a nice stalking style and looks set for a big effort. 3-4

Key Play

$2 double

6th 5-6-7

7th 3-4 for $12

Race 8

We finish the day with a very ugly 32k maiden claimer going a flat mile, we will take a shot and use three horses exiting the same race, No. 4 B. I. Guy who has been well bet in his two races, No. 5 Quietly Waiting who looked improved in his last with a good third place finish and No. 7 Boston Baked Bean. 4-5-7
