SANTA ANITA

Race 1

We start this huge race day with fillies and mares going six furlongs and we will go with No. 6 Paschalitsa who will sit off the hot pace and launch down the lane, she has a real nice last work. No. 5 Casino Fever exits the same race and finished a close third just a nostril behind Paschalitsa.

Race 2

Down the hill they go, we hope… No. 5 Entrechat gets Bejarano for this her third start off the layoff, this should be her best. No. 6 Pearl de Vere has been down the hill five times with three wins and two seconds. 5-6

Race 3

$10k claimers go a flat mile on the dirt and the Desormeaux brothers hook up with No. 5 Desert Madam first off the claim and the narrow loss. No. 6 Abets Abet was the winner for the race with Desert Madam and likes this mile trip. No. 8 Bayonet is looking for her fifth straight win but gets a not so good drop off the two month layoff. No. 10 Individual Design won here at this distance and level back in January when beating Abets Abet. 5-6-8-10

Race 4

Maiden 3yo fillies go six furlongs. No. 1 Angel Lane just missed last out on a wet fast surface but did run second the time before on a dry fast surface. No. 5 Crimson and Gold ran a bang up second in her one and only start and Mike Smith sticks as this filly will relish the extra half a furlong. No. 8 Rizzi’s Honors exits the same race as Crimson and Gold and showed nice early speed in her first try. After that this one is wide open.  5**-1-8

Race 5

Maiden 3yo go 6-1/2 furlongs on the dirt. Ron Ellis who is having a big meet when not on TVG gabbing sends out first time starter No. 2 Goldrusher who is out of the dam Class on Class who has dropped 5 winners from 5 starters. Baffert sends out the $500k first time starter for Gary and Mary West No. 3 American Freedom off some I’M ready to roll works. No. 6 Mucho Chrome is on the improve and looks right there. No. 7 Seventh Sense is much better than his first start and the price will be right with Stew Elliot riding. No. 9 Magical Mystery is the barn mate of American Freedom and this one cost $350k. No. 12 Giant Expectations ran on nicely after hesitating at the start, he exits the same race as Mucho Chrome.

Race 6

THE GRADE I FRANK E. KILROE GOING A MILE ON THE GRASS

No. 1 Om has won 3 of his four starts here and 2 of 3 at this mile distance. No. 3 Bal a Bali is highly thought of and will be tough down the lane. No. 4 Bolo came off the layoff and won the Grade II Arcadia, he loves the grass. No. 6 Midnight Storm comes off the layoff for D’Amato he will fall right behind Om and try and get the jump on them turning for home. 1-3-4-6

Race 7

THE GRADE II SAN FELIPE WORTH 50 KENTUCKY DERBY POINTS TO THE WINNER

There is a lot of buzz for No. 2 Danzig Candy, we will see if he can stand this test or he will be off the Derby trail. No. 3 Mor Spirit is the BIG Baffert runner at this point and the one to beat. Baffert also sends out the $900k purchase No. 4 Cupid who comes off a maiden win. No. 6 Smokey Image has won all six of his starts and now will try some open company again, if he finishes first or second it will be his ticket to Louisville. No. 7 Exagerator has been battling Nyquist and will be Mor Spirit’s main danger. 3**-7

Race 8

Maiden 3yo go a mile on the grass. No. 5 Clear the Way took some action when going down the hill last out and will love the stretchout. No. 7 Beach Patrol finds his way here from the Fairgrounds and lands in a top barn and is the barn mate of Clear the Way, he also draws BejaraNo.  5-7

Race 9

THE GRADE II SAN CARLOS GOING 7 FURLONGS 

No. 1 Calculator had his prep and love this track. No. 3 Wild Dude took a shot in the BC sprint, he has a good 7 furlong work for his comeback race. No. 8 Kobe’s Back just maybe back after finally getting the win despite breaking slow as usual. 1-3-8

Race 10

THE 1 MILLION DOLLAR BIG CAP

James Jerkens makes a rare ship out West with the classy No. 5 Effinex whose last win came in the Grade I Clark. He had a bullet work over the track and gets big race Mike Smith up who also rode him in the Clark. No. 8 Imperative lost by a nostril last out in the Grade II San Antonio, we love his chances today.

Race 11

THE $75K CHINA DOLL GOING A MILE ON THE GRASS

No. 2 Sutton’s Smile makes her 3yo debut after finishing a solid 3rd in the Grade I Starlet back in December. No. 7 Nodiac is the barn mate of Sutton’s Smile and ran a good second last out in the $75k Sweet Life down the hill. No. 9 Pacific Heat blasted home last out in the $200k Cal Cup at this mile turf distance. 2-7-9

GOLDEN GATE

Race 1

No. 1 Empty Headed drops back to his level. No. 2 Gab Power moves back up in class off the neck loss. No. 4 Little Jack will try and take them wire-to-wire. 1-2-4

Race 2

No. 4 Broderick Street comes off a good maiden score and will be ok vs winners. No. 1 Kid Green moces up in class off a very wide trip last out and gets a new jock. 1-4

Race 3

No. 2 Niassa will try and get back to the winner circle as she drops and gets back to a sprint. No. 4 Inside Scoop gets her first start off the Sherman claim, she will get a solid pace upfront to run at. No. 5 Pappercoversrock is the barn mate of Niassa and both exit the same race. 2-4-5

Race 4

No. 2 Cuyathy is the speed and just failed to hold last time out. No. 3 Friulian is the closer and will be the one they will need to fear late. No. 6 Salty Pop is a first time starter out of the dam Salty Steph who has dropped 8 winners from 8 starters. 2-3-6

Race 5

No. 1 Candy for Debbie and No. 6 Nahem will both try and circle the track together. 1-6

Race 6

No. 1 Katy in Cahoots gets her second start, she was closing fast in her first start and could pop at a big price. No. 5 Power of Thirteen drops into a good spot. 1-5

Race 7

No. 1 Implicated is the speed on the rail. No. 6 Sneaking a Kiss is in top form and finished second behind Implicated one race back. 1-6

Race 8

Hollendorfer looks to have this race in hand as he sends out first time starter No. 1 Unleash the Dream and the short price No. 7 Volume Twelve who will take some beating and looks like a single.  7**-1

Race 9

No. 1 Heat the Rocks comes off a real nice win and is claim proof first off the claim, she gets a turnback to a sprint and will find a fast pace to run at, we will single. 1**
