Race 1

40 and 50k statebred maiden fillies and mares go six furlongs. No. 3 What a Stormkat showed some big early speed in her one and only start here on the 28th of May and has come back to work a bullet here four days ago. No. 5 Christy Jackson finished a fast closing second in front of What a Stormkat. The leading trainer Phil D’Amato brings back No. 7 Uncle Steve’s Girl from 8 months on the shelf. 3-5-7

Race 2

16k 3yo fillies go 5-1/2 furlongs as the meet gets close to the end some barns are heading to set up house at Del Mar. No. 1 Adios Princess gets a turn back in distance and will get a ground saving trip. No. 2 Angel Lane has big early speed and is perfectly spotted off the maiden breaker. 1-2

Race 3

Stew Elliott gets on No. 1 Concord’s Star off the big maiden win for Baffert and its good to see that Mr. B places this 3yo colt in a claim proof starter allowance race. No. 3 Pete’s Play Call will fall into a good stalking position and will be the one to fear down the lane. Baffert also sends out No. 6 Midnight Edition off the layoff, this 3yo colt showed good early speed last year. 1-3**-6

Race 4

2yo maiden fillies go five furlongs. No. 2 Dangerfield may not get much respect in this race but that last work says we better show some, Mike Smith gets on first-time starter No. 5 Law Abidin Citizen for Mark Glatt, this one also has a big last work. Hollendorfer sends out first-time starter No. 10 Silver Assault, he is very well bred and that last 5 furlong work says he is on go! 2-5-10

Race 5

No. 1 Drover Crazy did not care for going down the hill last time out, he gets off the grass and back to the level and distance of his neck loss one race back. No. 5 Jazzy Times was sent off at .50 cents on the dollar at Churchill Downs in his last race back in May, Baffert brings him West and Bejarano gets the call, he has big ability and a ton of upside. No. 8 Who’s Out gets his second off the layoff, he comes off a solid try first off the layoff when bet down to 6/5. 1-5-8

Race 6

Tons of early speed in this six furlong sprint and if they hook up it will set things up for No. 1 Hye I’m Jack who gets Bejarano off the layoff for O’Neill. No. 2 Sam Slick will be a nice price play on the turn back in distance. 1**-2

Race 7

Maidens go a flat mile. No. 2 Westfest has run three times sprinting going off at even money two times and 6/5 the other time, now the Baffert stretchout. No. 7 Giant Expectations has run back-to-back races at 1 1/16, both good efforts, he will love this flat mile. 2-7

Race 8

No. 2 Kobe’s Back is back from Churchill Downs where he ran 3rd in a very tough Grade II seven furlong sprint, he likes this track and will be making his usual late run. No. 4 Lord Nelson gets his second off the layoff, he won the Grade II San Vicente here last year at 7 furlongs. Big race Mike Smith gets on the speedy No. 6 Subtle Indian who will try and take them wire to wire. 2-4-6

Race 9

No one shipped in for a piece of the pie? Interesting since this is a very soft Gold Cup field. No. 4 Lieutenant Colonel is the speed, if left alone he could get very brave on the front end. No. 6 Hoppertunity is back from Dubai where he finished a good 3rd behind California Chrome in the World Cup back in February, if he has recovered he has a big shot with Mike Smith riding. No. 7 Melatonin won the Grade I Santa Anita Handicap at this distance and is a perfect 3 for 3 on this course, he is the other speed behind the Colonel. 4-6-7
