SANTA ANITA

Race 1

As we continue to suffer through these bad cards until Del Mar opens we need to deal with five runners in the first leg of the pick five today in this 50k maiden claimer for 3yo. It would be a good idea to hit the all button on one of your pick five tickets as this one as the looks of anyone can win, but we will opt for No. 4 Clifton Beach, a John Sadler second time starter who drops a notch, he took some action in his one start and has little to beat. No. 5 Knight of Drama comes back off the layoff and could be the speed. 4-5

Race 2

30k maiden 3yo fillies go six furlongs and we get 7 runners in here and will need to use four of them, No. 1 Latina Mo on the drop, No. 2 One Afleet Star another dropper, No. 5 Tangled Up in Ju who gets another drop and a good jock switch, she may be the speed and No. 6 Scoreboard Sassy a live first time starter with a big last work. 1-2-5-6

Race 3

We get six 2yo maiden fillies going five furlongs, No. 1 Nightengale Miss is a first time Hollendorfer, she is out of the dam Potluck Dinner who has dropped 8 winners for 8 starters with 2 stakes winners and she gets the services of Flavien Prat. No. 4 Tap It All has run two times, finishing second both times at odds on. Bob Baffert sends out two first time starters, we like the outside runner No. 6 Back Off as Mike Smith gets the call. 1-4-6

Race 4

Another five horse field as we get more 3yo fillies this time in a 75k optional claimer. No. 1 Bendable won like a good thing first out of the box and could be this good. No. 4 Sweet Halory comes off the layoff for O’Neill and looks ready to roll. 1-4

Race 5

Maiden 30k 3yo fillies go one mile. No. 1 Yavrig could be a good single in the pick five as she gets a big break in the weights with Chad Lindsay getting the call for Richard Baltas, she gets the stretchout and could take these girls wire-to-wire. 1** Win and place 1

Race 6

We get 8k claimers going 5-½ furlongs and these fillies and mares are not very good and they will all be trying to gun down No. 4 Fast Magoo who just won here at this level and distance. No. 1 Emotional Drive finished second in that race with No. 3 Ebony Cat finishing third and No. 7 Mudge the 5th place finisher, they will try and turn the tables on Magoo. 1-3-4-7

Race 7

We get six runners in the feature, before scratches, this race has been written for Cal-breds who ran on the grass or synthetic surface in their last race. No. 4 Radiant Journey is the mare to beat as she gets her second start off the layoff, she has won 3 times and those three wins came every other race so this is her win race and two of those three wins came on dirt, beat her to cash. No. 1 Summer Wine and No. 5 My Palmilla both exit the same race. 4**/1-5

Key exacta box 4 with 1-5 and win and place 4

Race 8

We get the largest field of the day at Santa Anita with eight 3yo maiden fillies going a mile. No. 1 Californiasunshine comes off the layoff for Neil Drysdale and Prat gets the call. No. 6 Mintenized is a first time starter for D’Amato who some very good works and finds little to beat. 1-6 Double 7th 4 8th 1-6
