Race 1

We start the day with $16k claimers going six furlongs and even though it’s Del Mar we get a field of six before scratches to start the pick five. No. 4 Brother Soldier exits our HTW list as a $$$ play. He gets a confident move up in class off the Robertino Diodoro claim and a big jock switch, he has a big shot if able to sit chilly off the hot pace. No. 5 Wade has shown he can sit and we like the connections. 4**-5

Race 2

We get a field of six $25k claimers with 3yo fillies going 6-1/2 furlongs. Trainer Doug O’Neill claimed No. 2 Passionate Emotion for $30k here back in November, he brought her back for a $32k tag and she ran ok and now drops her for this $25k price tag looking to get his money back. No. 4 Shanghai Beauty won at first asking when going off at .90 cents on the dollar, she was claimed by Peter Miller and looks very live in this spot. 2-4

Race 3

They go five furlongs on the grass and we get a nice field of nine. No. 1 Xoxo was last seen here at Del Mar on July 17th 2015, almost a year to the day and he won this same exact race with the same jockey. No. 5 Home Journey also has won on this course and her last two works say she is on go. No. 9 Codacious also owns a win on this course and had a nice prep for this race and her last win came with Maldanado riding and her gets back on today. 1-5-9

Race 4

No. 3 Midnight Edition broke his maiden here last August for a price tag of $50k, he went on the shelf and now comes back in this claim proof starter allowance race which is a good sign. Mike Smith gets on No. 7 Look Me in the Eye who comes off a nice maiden breaker, she has been well bet in all four of his starts.

Race 5

No. 1 Toowindytohaulrox is in top form and comes off a good try in the $75k Siren Lure. No. 3 Lieutenant Colonel is the speed and was overmatched in the Grade I Gold Cup last out. The once highly thought of No. 6 Vyjack comes to town and lands in the barn of the hot training Phil D’Amato, that last work says he is on go! 1-3-6

Race 6

2yo maidens go five furlongs. Trainer Doug ONeill who has a loaded barn of 2yo sends out No. 5 Rinse and Repeat for his top owner Reddam, he has finished 3rd in both of his starts and may like the move here. No. 3 Rim Ditch ran huge in his one start when finishing second when beating Rinse and Repeat.

Race 7

Optional $75k claimers go 1-1/16 on the grass. No. 2 It’s The Ice comes off a good second in the $75k Pasadena and could be the speed of the speed. No. 10 Lauren’s Ladd is the barn mate of Ice and trainer D’Amato usually wins when he sends out two in the same race. No. 11 I’malreadythere gets back on his best surface and gets the good grass jock Prat riding today. No. 12 Lucky Bryan exits the same race as Lauren’s Ladd. 2-10-11-12

Race 8

We get maiden 2yo fillies going 5 furlongs, Mike Smith and Bob Baffert hook up with first time starter No. 3 Noted and Quoted and Mike has won his last three rides for Baffert. No. 1 Champagne Room has a blazing last work. No. 10 La Vitesse also has been working like a runner. 3**-1-10

Race 9

Big race Mike Smith jumps on No. 2 Nancy From Nairobi who has won 3 of her last 4 starts. No. 3 Her Emmynency ran behind Nancy in the Royal Heroine after a horrible start, she ran second here last year in the Del Mar Oaks. Victoria Oliver sneaks back in town with No. 8 She’s Not Here who won this race last year. No. 7 Queen of The Sand likes the beach as she has two wins and three seconds on this course.

Race 10

$20k maidens go the tough distance of 7 furlongs, it’s always a good thing when we see Kent D stick around to ride the last race. He gets on No. 3 Run Like Rhett in this his second start, we look for a big race. No. 6 Bundesliga exits our HTW list, he gets his first start off the O’Neill claim, bet him to cash.
