Race 1

The pick five starts off with just a six horse field of $16k claimers. No. 4 Basmati gets a drop in class and is the speed but will be a short price. No. 5 Luckarack is in good form and this 8yo gelding still has some run in those legs, he beds down in a top barn and looks live. 4-5

Race 2

We get $25k claimers going 1-1/16 on the grass. No. 3 All Call ships in and lands in the barn off Hess and he puts his go to jock Kent D up. D’Amato gives No. 4 Hay Dude a big drop in class, we don’t worry with this barn dropping as they drop to win. No. 5 Royal Banker exits a key race and is a must use. 3-4-5

Race 3

$16k fillies and mares go 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 6 Angel Lane drops and is the speed of the speed, we will take our shot and single in the pick five. 6

Race 4

The Desormeaux brothers hook up with No. 2 Miss Southern Miss, she will fall into the perfect trip. No. 6 Champagne Room was well meant in her one start but had to settle for second, she exits our HTW list and we will use. 2-6

Race 5

Fillies and mares go a flat mile on the grass. No. 2 Sutton’s Smile gets back on the grass and at her best distance. No. 4 Arethusa finished a game second here at this level on July 15th, she was closing fast.

Race 6

Maiden fillies and mares go 6-1/2 furlongs. No. 4 Breathe was bet like a good thing in her one start when sent off at 6/5, she ran an even third and has a nice last work. No. 5 Vivacious Beauty gets her second off the layoff and finished second last out when some 3 lengths in front of Breathe. No. 7 Tryst finished second in three straight races at Santa Anita, all of them she was odds on. 4-5-7

Race 7

3yo go a mile on the grass. No. 3 Alaskan Son shipped in from Ireland and got the nice maiden win here on July 15th at this mile turf distance, he can repeat. Prat gets back on No. 2 Bombard who exits a trouble last race. 2-3

Race 8

We have two runners in this 2yo maiden race that are exiting our HTW list and we will use both in the late pick four. No. 4 Excavation who finished a better than looked 3rd in his one start and has a bullet last work here on July 31st best off 108 runners that day when going five furlongs in :59.1. No. 7 Straight Fire gets his second start for Kent and Keith D, he showed good early speed in his first start. **4-7

Win and place 4

Race 9

No. 3 Moonlight Drive finished second here on opening day in the Oceanside Stakes, he may have moved to early that day and finished second. We love the jock switch to Prat as he will try and turn the tables on No. 8 Monster Bea who won the race. 3-8

Race 10

$20k maidens go 7 furlongs in the last leg of the pick four. No. 8 Rideo exits our HTW list, he finished 3rd last out at this distance and first at this level, he gets his first start off the O’Neill claim. No. 9 Alaskan Cruise finished second in his last start also at this distance and level. No. 5 Yet Another Nate has a race over the track, he could be the lone speed and could get brave if left alone on the front end. 5-8-9
