Must tread lightly in the early going of this new meet, in here there is just a lot of early speed and the closer No. 3 It’s Superman doesn’t look like much of late. No. 5 Capture The Call has a win over the course and has been a very popular item at the claim box getting red tagged from his last three starts. No. 8 Bronster gets off the grass and has done good here and gets Rosario, he has shown that he can come from the back in the past. 5-8

Race 2

In here we have 20k maiden fillies and mares going 5½ furlongs and none look like they can run. We will pass.

Race 3

Northern California trainer John Martin brings in No. 3 Can’t Topper in top form and she is proven over this surface. 3

Race 4

No. 2 Beau Royale ran good in his one and only and has a big work here on the 21st. No. 8 Hammer The Bay comes off the layoff for trainer O’Neill who puts Rosario in the irons, he looks like the one to beat. 2-8

Race 5

No. 3 Byrony is one of two that John Sadler has in here. She is in from over the pond and draws Rosario. The only time No. 6 Gelila went a mile on the grass she won. No. 7 Caelis will be making her usual late run. 3-6-7

Race 6

Chantal Sutherland got to know No. 7 Ralphy Girl last time out. She had a good race here last December and may be ready for the maiden breaker. No. 9 Tiz A Brite Miss just missed here on the grass last June and than went on the shelf. All must not be well as she comes back at this bottom level but is a must use. 7-9

Race 7

The one and only time that Gomez rode No. 2 Senor Rain he got the win. Trainer Peter Eurton will see if his winning ways can be transferred to Hollywood as he sends out No. 3 Chickie Charms off a huge win last time out, he can handle the grass. No. 6 American Act beat Creative Cause one race back in a Grade 2 and his one turf race he was second here at this distance. No. 8 Koast is two for two sprinting on the grass but that was going down the hill. When all is said and done No. 6 American Act is the one to beat. 6/2-3-8

Race 8

We close opening day with 2yo fillies going 4½ furlongs. This is the time to know someone on the backside but if able watch the early betting and the payoffs on the picks to get an idea of who the runners are. Trainer Walther Solis is a master with these 2yo and he sends out No. 1 Awe Golly Molly off a sharp work and she has win early breeding. He also sends out No. 3 Kiptiddy Do. Rosario opts for No. 9 Salty Gal and Bejarano will ride No. 10 O Happy Gray. Those are the four. 1-3-9-10

GOLDEN GATE

Race 1

No. 2 The Roan Ranger has found a home here and now will try the grass once again, No. 5 McAllister Boys got the win in his first try on the turf. 2-5

Race 2

No. 1 Crazy Giulia may wake up here at this level, No. 6 Jesi’s Girl looks ready to pop at any time. 1-6

Race 3

No. 4 Greely’s Agenda gets the big jockey switch to Baze and a double drop in class, she will be odds on, we will single in the early pick four and the late pick five. 4

Race 4

No. 4 Sir Al takes a little dip in class and that could get him back to the winners circle, No. 5 Letsgetitright has never been off the board on this turf course, he loses Baze and picks up the bug Boy Ronald Richard, if he can clear early he may not stop. No. 1 Moscato takes a big drop in class but gets back on the grass. 1-4-5

Hollendorfer drops No. 1 Hot Engagement to the bottom and puts his buddy Russel the mussel in the irons and if he don’t run good he also sends the closer No. 3 Do What You Dare with the hard riding Frank Alvarado. No. 5 Wild Cycle will be a late player first off the Martin claim and Gryder sticks. 1-3-5

There are two in here coming off a layoff, dropping in class and exiting the same race, No. 1 Oh Frankie Oh and No. 3 Script This. No. 4 Skye Memo gets a move up off the Morey claim. 1-3-4

We end the day here at the Gate with maidens going 1 1/16 on the grass, trainer Neil Drysdale ships in No. 4 Seal Rock a Tiznow high priced 4yo gelding off the layoff, this one will like the grass, No. 7 Pepnic is the one to beat. 4-7
