Down the hill we go. No.2 Drift King had a horrible trip going 6 furlongs on the Hollywood grass in his last start and now Mike Mitchell’s daughter’s future husband Julien Leparoux gets back aboard. No.6 Cherokee Heaven is a three time winner going down the hill and won his last here. No.11 Newfound Gold exits our HTW list and takes his first shot on the grass. The price will be right. Jockey Edwin Maldanado will try and take up where he left off at Hollywood on No.12 Mr. Bossy Pants who is a four time winner going down the hill and that last work says he is on go. Joel Rosario is in town and he will ride No.13 Mr. Candy Bar the price play in here. 2-6-11-12-13

THE GRADE 1 7 FURLONG LA BREA

No.1 Mamma Kimbo had her prep and is set for her best. No.5 My Miss Aurelia is the class winning six of her seven starts and comes off a good second in the BC Ladies Classic. She will be very had to beat albeit at short odds. The upsetter in here will be No.7 Book Review who has won three of her four starts at this 7 furlong distance. She will be the one to fear late.1-5-7

Race 5

THE GRADE 2 SIR BEAUFORT AT ONE MILE ON THE GRASS

No.1 Fit to Rule exits our HTW list off a freakish maiden score and now is tossed to the wolves as he goes on the grass for the first time. No.2 Press Baron has been working with a purpose and will be making a big late run. No.4 Big Bane Theory will like this mile distance and is 2 for 2 on the grass here at Anita. In a very wide open race we will side with the Big Bane Theroy. 4

Race 6

In this 2yo straight maiden race Bob Baffert sends out first time starter No.2 Aleander off some good works and his dam California Sunset has dropped 4 winners from 4 starters. Asmussen sends out first time starter No.6 Masaru who had a blistering 6 furlong work here on the 16th and a nice 4 furlong blowout on the 23rd. No.7 Forest Bow is back sprinting and will be right there. No.9 Radar the Rat did not run a step in his first start on the grass but had a crazy 5 furlong work here on the 14th going 5 furlongs in .57.4. No.12 Belvin exits our HTW list and is the colt to beat. 2-6-7-9-12*

Key tri using No.12 first and second with 2-6-7-9

Race 7

No.3 Fable Haven remains in top form and is a must use in the exotics. No.5 Sarangani is the speed and will try and clear early. Gomez gets back on No.8 Rintoo who will be a real nice price play in here. NO.11 Rightful Image will be tough in this his second start off the layoff. 3-5-8-11

Race 8

THE 7 FURLONG GRADE 1 MALIBU

Mike Smith makes a rare ride for trainer Bob Baffert on No.1 Fed Biz of some big time works. Trainer Richard Mandella put a real nice 7 furlong work into No.2 Jimmy Creed. Baffert also sends out No.3 Drill who has really been working good. J R is in to ride No.4 The Lumber Guy who just did lose the BC sprint here back in November. Wesley Ward ships in No.5 Politicallycorrect with Rosario in the irons. He will be flying late. 1-2-4-5

Race 9

Mike Smith sticks around and will ride another for Baffert in this straight maiden race, No.2 Brannaman. Baffert also sends out first time starter for his buddy Bernie, No.4 Delayed who has been in steady work mode here at Santa Anita. No.5 Soul Saver missed by a nostril here back in November. Interesting that Rosario sticks around and rides comebacker No.8 Scorpion Warrior for the low profile Kristin Mulhall. 2-4-5-8

Good luck in a very tough opening day at Santa Anita

No.4 Ron’s Ranger gets a confident boast in class in this his second start for a sharp outfit but will need to improve a ton in order to beat the odds on dropper No.6 Little Jack. 4-6

Race 2

This looks like more chalk with No.6 Tiz Crowded and No.7 Running for Jakob, but the speed in here No.2 Mile High Bunk could get brave if left along on the front end. 2-6-7
