SANTA ANITA

Race 1

The two Frenchmen, jockey Leparoux and trainer Biancone hook up on dropper No. 2 Sharp Bella as she will try the dirt for the first time. After her its anyone’s race. 2

Race 2

Fillies and Mares go 1 1/8 on the Santa Anita grass and none of these girls own a win at this distance and most have never been this long. No. 3 Spring Bloom is very consistent and should be able to handle the distance. No. 4 Always a Chance will get a nice patient ride from Leparoux who takes over for Joe Talamo who opts for the Spring Bloom. No. 7 Mum’s Truckee is in from the gate and lands in the barn of Peter Miller. She may like it here and will be making a big late run. 3-4-7

Race 4

This race looks like Baffert and Sadler, Baffert sends out No. 1 Curly Top who has finished second in both of his starts but loses Bejarano today as he opts for the other Baffert runner No. 8 Costal Breeze. Sadler sends out No. 7 Forest Boy who gets his third start off the layoff. No. 2 Footbridge gets his second start and will go long. He is bred for this and will be part of the mix. Trainer Steven Asmussen sends out the Empire Maker first time starter No. 10 Python who they paid mega bucks for. 1-2-7-8-10

Race 5

No. 6 Indecise exploded down the lane when going down the hill last time out and will love this mile distance. 6

Race 6

Jockey Mario Gutierrez rode No. 3 El Ciervo to a good second the only time he rode this filly at Hastings Park. No. 4 Cee’s the Year looks live off the layoff. We will also use No. 11 R Doubleday if he draws in from the also list. He will be the speed. 3-4-11

Race 7

No. 2 Cayanna has been looking for a race down the hill where she has hit the board all three times. The only time No. 3 Purim’s Dancer went down the hill she got the win. No. 4 Madre Luna comes off a long layoff of more than a year but has been working good for the sneaky Julio Canani. No. 7 Hidinginplainsight is a speedy filly who owns a win and a second going down the hill in two tries. 2-3-4-7

Race 8

No. 1 Marv had a horrible trip in his last start and now takes a little drop in class, but his trainer is having a very bad meet. No. 6 Mayan Eyes made a nice late run here 7 days ago to pick up the show dough despite taking a bad stumble at the start. No. 8 Unmarked Bills continues his class descent but looks to have found his level. No. 10 Whipstock will be the one to fear late as he will be making a big late run. 1-6-8-10

Race 2

No. 2 Cinderella Brite gets her winning jockey back on. No. 4 Divas and Diamonds gets her third start here and this looks like her best shot to win. 2-4

Race 3

No. 1 New Haven Line gets off the grass and back to the sprint game. No. 2 Hollanita is looking to stay undefeated. No. 5 Strange Luck comes to town off a big maiden win at Hollywood Park. She will be the one to fear the most late. 1-2-5

Race 6

No. 5 Bold Agressor finds his way North and he may like it here. Interesting that R Baze takes the mount on No. 1 Sparkle Joel. 1-5

Race 7

We have 3yo 32k maiden claimers in here. Trainer Bill Morey and Baze hook up with first time starter No. 4 Our Cognac Kid and Baze has won four of his last eight rides for this trainer. We will take our shot and single in the late pick four. 4

Race 8

We finish the late pick four with a 20k maiden claimer for 4yo fillies and mares. Trainer Ryan Kenney has been sending out some live ones here at the meet and he sends out No. 1 Swift Touch who is out of the dam Miss Swisse who has dropped 2 winners from her two starters and one was a stakes winner. We like the fact the Kyle Frey will ride. No. 3 Elinda made a big late run in her one and only start and now gets a move up to this level. No. 6 Cool Toddy has had his shots but none this easy. 1-3-6
