SANTA ANITA

Race 1

No. 1 Ya Wanna Hug has done his best running here at Santa Anita and Joe Talamo gets his second try with the filly who looks to be sitting on the win. No. 3 Prettypriceygirl ran his best race here last October and now Gomez takes a rare ride for Julio Canani. 1-3

Race 2

No. 2 Let Em Shine showed big early speed in his one and only start. He had a good work here on the 11th and will be out there winging it again today, but will need to contend with the speedy No. 3 Salutos Amigos. Trainer Bob Baffert put a real nice gate work into first time starter No. 5 Govenor Charlie the son of Midnight Lute. This colt looks like a real runner and we will just make a one way call with him as our play. 5

Win and place 5

Race 3

There is a ton of early speed in this 8k 5 ½ furlong claimer and that could set things up for No. 2 Queenie Marini with Eliska Kubinova in the saddle. And speaking about saddles the other filly rider in this race Kayla Stra is on No. 1 Wild in the Saddle and we like that so we will go with the one two punch in here. 1-2

Race 4

Now we will go down the hill. No. 8 Ms. G.I. Jane is a professional sprinter on the grass and gets a major rider upgrade. Gomez rides for Canani once again today as he is on the speedy No. 11 Woebegon first off the claim. No. 12 Promiscuoussuances also has big early speed and owns a win and a second from two starts on this course and she gets the lovely outside post. 8-11-12

Race 5

THE GRADE 2 PALOS VERDES

Baffert sends out two in here, No. 1 Apriority who makes his way back from Florida with no success, but he has finished second in all three of his sprints here and No. 2 Drill who is on a win every other race pattern and this is his win race. He has been drilling bullets. The last time No. 3 Canonize was seen was in Texas when finishing second in the Lone Star mile last April. He has four wins from six starts here and three at this 6 furlong distance. No. 7 Justin Phillip could not handle Grade 1 company in the BC Sprint here last November but Asmussen has freshened him and he will be the one to fear the most late. No. 6 Private Zone has finished second in both of his starts here including the Grade 1 Malibu but he will need to contend with No. 5 Comma to the Top who will be out with him on the front end. So where does that leave us? If playing the picks you will need to go deep in here but when narrowing it down we will use the horses for courses angle and go with No. 3 Canonize. 3

Race 6

We get 3yo fillies going down the hill. The Curlin filly No. 5 Moulin de Mougin broke her maiden going down the hill and had a good last work for this. No. 6 Emmy’s Hall is in from Calder and lands in the Jerry Hollendorfer barn. She may like it here. No. 7 Pussycat Lips who exits our HTW list is the one to beat off her narrow loss in the Grade 3 Miesque last time out, her first start in the US. No. 9 Jubliant Girl is the stablemate of Pussycat and won in her only start and it was on this course. She could be this good.

Key exacta box 7 with 5-6-9

Race 7

Now we get $12,500 claimers going 1 1/16 and this is not a very appetizing race. No. 11 Hombre Hughes owns the best last race over the course when finishing second by ¾ of a length but now he moves to the far outside. No. 6 Trucial State and No. 12 Jay’s Firetruck both could wake up with the drop to this level and the soft competition. No. 3 Run for Miles may find himself on a lone early lead and he could get brave. 3

Race 8

THE ONE MILE MEGAHERTZ

No. 3 In the Stars loves this mile turf distance as she has won 3 of 4 with a second. No. 4 Lady Ten has never been off the board in 11 starts and is the filly to beat. No. 6 A Jealous Woman has hit the board in all eight of her turf starts here and she is on a win every other race pattern. 3-4-6

Race 9

30k 3yo maiden fillies going 6 furlongs. First time starter No. 2 Warren’s Cracker has been working very good for this. No. 12 Fearless Cat had a troubled first trip and will go better today at the right price. 2-12

GOLDEN GATE

Race 1

No. 2 Bad Boy K gets he second shot at this level. No. 3 My Crafty Life may be live at first asking. No. 4 Hot Option has the best last race over the course. 2-3-4

Race 2

No. 1 Last Sting comes off a game win. No. 2 Trappers Reward will be making her usual late run. No. 4 Dynamite Red gets a major rider upgrade. 1-2-4

Race 3

Lots of early speed in here so we will go with No. 1 Personal Sunset a closer who has two wins here, No. 2 English Royal a stalker and No. 3 Advance Ticket another closer. 1-2-3

Race 4

No. 4 Havanna Jack has done little wrong in his two starts. No. 7 Good Mojo is the main one in here. 4-7

Double

3rd 1-2-4

4th 4-7

Race 5

Trainer Peter Miller has won with 3 of his ten shippers here and he brings in the big dropper, No. 2 Pumpkin Pie. No. 5 Tranquility Dream is the main contender. 2-5

Race 6

No. 1 Glorious Madness gets the filly rider April Boag who will get a rail saving trip. No. 3 Littlemissgogo and No. 6 Satin Bouquet look to be the main two. 1-3-6

Race 7

No. 1 Harlan’s Weekend ran good here at 20/1 in his first after shipping in from Hollywod Park. He gets the cozy rail today and will be hard to beat with a good trip. We will single in the late pick three. 1

Race 8

Doug O’Neill ships in No. 1 Russdiculous who gets blinkers and Baze. It is now or down the class ladder he goes. No. 2 Dunbar is in from Keenland for trainer Morey and this colt looks mighty tough in this spot. 1-2

Q 1-2 and win and place 2

Race 9

No. 1 King Budrick drops looking for the win. No. 3 Catch Cody likes this flat mile distance. 1-3

Pick three
