We start off with one of the worst cards in a long time on Friday at Holly Park, as we get a lousy five horse field to start the bad day. No. 1 Corner Office gets his first start off the claim and now will try and go long, at least he is in top form. No. 2 Cook Inlet gets a class hike off a nice win going a mile on the Santa Anita dirt. 1-2
At least we get six running before scratches in the second race. No. 4 Glorified drops to her lowest level, all is not ok but this is one bad group of 8k claimers. No. 5 Rossi Reserve has the speed to clear and take them gate-to-wire. 4-5
Gomez gets back on No. 5 Tribal Dude who he rode one race back in his narrow loss going down the hill at Santa Anita and now he goes six furlongs on the Holly Park grass. No. 6 Lucky Cotton was in the same race and really never picked up his feet after a slow start but has a great work for this. No. 9 Art Official ran a solid fourth right behind the Dude. 5-6-9
Exacta box 5-6-9
No. 4 Gloryandprayer owns a win here and is in good form for this. No. 5 Jesse’s Giacomo has been running with Gloryandprayer and they could hit the wire together. 4-5
We will take our shot with No. 2 U S Citizen off the layoff for trainer Marty Jones. This colt can run fresh and broke his maiden on this 6 furlong turf course last year. 2
This 50k maiden claimer is a real grab bag. No. 5 Colossians is a live firster for Baffert and No. 6 Annunaki is a live firster for Marty Jones. 5-6
No. 6 Half Strike looks best in here and will take some beating. 6
No. 5 Meydan Magic gets his second try on the grass and has been well bet in his first two starts. No. 6 Ambitious Brew gets Mike Smith riding in the last race. Why would he stick around for this first time starter? No. 8 U’narack showed big early speed in his one and only last year at Del Mar. He has been working with a purpose for Hollendorfer and is bred to grass. He gets the good grass jockey Leparoux.
Exacta box 5-6-8
No. 2 John Bully’s Bob has won three of his six starts here and his trainer has been sending out all live runners, this will be his first off the claim. No. 4 Defying Logic drops to the level of his big win. 2-4
No. 2 Harlan’s Sweetie exits our HTW list off a huge win. No. 6 Life Is a Stone looks to be the main danger.
No. 2 Fly Blue gets back to six furlongs after going long in his last two starts and he won the last time he went this distance. 2
No. 2 I Gigi drops and has the right style to get the win. No. 7 No Mistress just missed at this level last time out when dropped. 2-7
No. 3 Rockport’s Song has been routing and he will be flying late today. No. 6 The Director looks to be the speed on the drop. No. 9 Two Step Saturday gets Baze back on and No. 11 Easy Six likes this course and gets his second start off the long layoff. 3-6-9-11
No. 2 Past Time Paradise gets his first try on the grass but will take to it fine. No. 5 This One’s for Mat ran a good second last time out in his first try on the grass. No. 6 Prime Issue is the price play in here. 2-5-6
Exacta box 2-5-6
No. 1 Good Acktress ships in looking for the win. No. 3 Tiz Blushing gets a major drop trying to cash. 1-3
