Race 1

No. 6 Disco Lemonade has some good early sped and that will play well in this field as she gets her first start off the Jeff Bonde claim. No. 7 Flashy Dame is the other potential speed in the field and gets a big drop in class and Bejarano who was on her the only time she won. No. 8 What a Miracle gets a big drop in class and may wake up in this spot. 6-7-8

Race 2

No. 2 Circa’sgoldengear won here last year at this 5 furlong turf distance, he has a good work on this turf course on the 15th and looks ready to fire a big shot. We will single. 2

Win and place 2

Race 3

We get maiden 2yo going 5½ furlongs. Mike Mitchell sends out No. 1 Short Sword who looks ready. No. 3 Hector O is named after his trainer the old pro Hector Palma and this colt is out of the dam Swiss Lady (Swiss Yodeler) she could be faster than the works indicate. No. 5 Salt Power has two races under his belt, gets a drop in class and will like the change of surfaces and the cool ocean air. 1-2-5

Race 4

No. 3 Branding exits our HTW list off a bad trip last out, she has a work over the track and Gary Stevens stays aboard for his buddy Tom Proctor, we will single in the players pick five. 3

Win and place 3

Race 5

This is an extension of the 3rd race expect this one is for the fillies and they are sprinting 5 furlongs. No. 1 Mia’s Storm is out of the barn of Ron McAnally who rarely runs a 2yo and who rarely has a first time starter cranked up but this filly has a wonderful work on July 15th at Hollywood and is a must use with Joe Talamo and the rail. No. 8 Charissa tried the grass in her first start and now drops and moves to the main and gets BejaraNo. No. 9 Ascription is a live Dour O’Neill first time starter. 1-8-9

Players pick five

1st 6-7-8

2nd 2

3rd 1-2-5

4th 3

5th 1-8-9

Race 6

Trainer Wesley Ward ships in No. 7 Shrinking Violet from Gulfstream Park looking for some of the bonus shipper money, this one ran big the two times she went sprinting on the grass and this 5 furlong turf spring will be right up her alley. No. 8 Lemon Hero will be the one to fear late. 7-8

Win and place 7 and an exacta box 7-8

Race 7

No. 5 Kettle Corn looks like a good single in the picks, his big second in the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup wins this race. 5

Race 8

In this 40k maiden claimer for fillies and mares we need to go at least four deep and the four we will use are No. 2 Pearl de Vere has a big last work here on the 16th, she ships in from Churchill Downs and lands in the barn of Peter Eurton who puts Joe Talamo in the irons. No. 6 Here’s to Rose drops for Sadler and has some good early speed. No. 7 Shand is the stablemate of de Vere and gets Bejarano back in the irons, the one time he rode this filly he lost by a neck and that was her second off the layoff last year and this will be her second off the layoff this year. No. 8 Dolphin Shorts looks live at first asking for Mitchell.

Key exacta box 7 with 2-6-8 and win and place 7

Race 2

Russell Baze will try and win out of the box here on opening day with the Jeff Bonde 3yo gelding No. 2 Tahoe Flash. No. 5 Afternoon Sun will be the one to fear late. 2-5

Race 3

The two good things about this meet is that Santa Rosa is a beautiful area and they have a turf course and the first turf race of the meet in here at a flat mile. No. 8 Torre Italiana at least has some early speed and that is lacking big time in this race. 8

Race 4

No. 10 Baggot Street stalked and folded in his last start we don’t think he will stop today. 10

Win and place 10

Race 5

We get 25k maiden claimers going 5 furlongs on the grass. No. 2 Stupendous Princess finished a better than looked 4th going this turf distance with straight maidens at the gate. No. 5 Vincee V. is a first time starter for a good trainer who is bred for the green. No. 6 Hard Rockin Girl has had her chances but will appreciate the turn back to a sprint. No. 7 Aninata is the stablemate of Vincee and just did get beat a neck at the wire going a mile on the grass in her last start, the question is why did Alvarado get off of her to ride V?  2-5-6-7

Race 6

No. 2 Torbeka Rose is the price play in here, she gets her second try at this level and had a tough trip last out. No. 8 Hot Roxx is the one to beat off her last two starts. 2-8

5th 2-5-6-7

6th 2-8

Race 7

In the feature today we go 1-1/16 on the grass. No. 1 Hittheroadrunning does just that every time, bet him to cash. No. 2 Bud I Crushed It never runs them alike and when he pops it is always at a price as he did in his last race at 20/1, he is a perfect 2-for-2 on this turf course. 1-2

Race 8

No. 4 Arch Your Back is the speed and will try and take them wire-to-wire. No. 8 Call Collect was a game winner first out of the box at Pleasanton and first at this level. 4-9
