SANTA ANITA

Race 1

We start this bad Saturday card with a five horse maiden race for 2yo fillies and only one of them have run. We will side with first time starter No. 1 Red Barris whose dam has dropped 3 winners from 3 starters and No. 4 Grammy Times Six a first time starter for Eddie Truman who put one over last week.

1-4

Race 2

No. 3 Prospector’s Trick gets a real good jockey switch and comes off a good try going down the hill. No. 7 The Cleaners really never got into it in his one and only start going 6 furlongs on the Hollywood grass, he will get a great trip from this post and Bejarano sticks. 3-7

Race 3

No. 1 Ol’ Steely Blue is wheeled back in just six days by trainer Jack Carava which is not a normal move for him. No. 5 Private Bounty will find a fast pace up front to set up his late run. 1-5

Race 4

No. 4 Olympic Blue looks like a solid single today, the one time he ran at this level he got the easy win and now Bejarano gets on board. 4

Win and place 4

Race 5

This race is so bad that the only one we could come up with is the No. 1 Newfound Gold and this 6yo gelding loves to finish second but we do get the bug boy today. 1

Race 6

Speaking about horses that love to run second well, No. 1 Field Report has finished second in 7 of his last 8 races, he will try the 6½ furlong downhill turf course for the first time and Bejarano will ride for the first time so maybe today he will find the winners circle. No. 3 Cinco de Mario gets a turn back in distance and he will be coming with a late run. No. 9 Tale Be Told exits our HTW list, he gets a confident boost in class and the price will be enticing. 1-3-9

Exacta box 1-3-9

Race 7

No. 9 Summer Exclusive looks like a real solid play in this 6 furlong sprint, the one time that he sprinted on the dirt was here when he broke his maiden. 9

Race 8

THE 100K CALIFORNIA FLAG GOING 6½ DOWN THE HILL

No. 5 Starspangled Heat will be making his usual late run. No. 7 Ain’t No Other is the key in this race and the last time he went down the hill he got the win. No. 9 Strong Wind has run great in his three turf sprints at Hollywood with a win and two close seconds. 5-7-9

Key exacta 7 with 5-9

Race 9

This last race a 50k maiden claimer for 2yo fillies is so bad it makes you cringe, most of these should be in Northern California. No. 6 Singleinthelast ran okay in her last race at Del Mar and now drops into a maiden claimer for this her third start. No. 7 Papa’s Flashy Girl is the only one in here that has gone long and that was at Fairplex with cheaper. 6-7

GOLDEN GATE

Race 1

No. 3 Magic Beam is in form down South and may like it here. No. 5 Piana Man is 2-for-2 on this course.

3-5

Race 2

No. 8 Honestly Occifer comes off a good maiden breaker and is spotted perfectly for the repeat win. 8

Race 3

No. 6 Bobgeepers drops and gets Baze. No. 8 Dontextndrive was a horse that looked to have some ability when he ran at Santa Anita on the grass but he never panned out and now heads North and gets a barn change. No. 10 Vantage Point will go better today in this his second off the layoff. 6-8-10

Double

2nd 8

3rd 6-8-10

Race 4

No. 5 Crawford the Crook drops in class and gets a top jock for his first try on this circuit. No. 6 Spectrus drops trying to cash for a sharp outfit. 5-6

Race 5

The word is that No. 5 Blackford can run, we will take our shot with this first time starter out of the dam Just Lookn who has dropped 6 winners from 6 starters and that last 5 furlong work was a pip. No. 8 Time Jumper will be the favorite with the Baze/Hollendorfer connections. 5-8

Exacta box 5-8 and win and place 5

Race 6

THE 50K MISS AMERICA GOING 1-1/16 ON THE GRASS

No. 3 Halo Dolly is as tough a mare as you can find on this circuit, she has hit the board in all five of her starts here with 3 wins and has won 16 times in her career. No. 4 Lady Aspen is her stablemate and she will be making a late run. 3-4

Race 8

No. 4 Farmer Giles has won 10 of his 24 starts on this turf course. No. 8 King Budrick looks the main danger to the Farmer. 4-8

Race 9

No. 1 Miss Success was bet like a good thing in her first start and ran a strong second. No. 4 When I’m Calling U gets off the grass and back to her best distance. No. 7 Free Money has a real nice last work for this her first start. 1-4-7
