SANTA ANITA

Race 1

Just another lousy first race to start the day, No. 1 Woodlandsway dropped to this level in her last start at Hollywood and got the win, she has been working very good here as she gets her first taste of dirt, No. 4 Goldilocks Planet gets a needed drop in class and has a good hookup. 1-4

Race 2

No. 5 Browsing was over her head when trying the grass and straight maidens when exiting our HTW list in her last start, she will be tough in this spot as she moves back to the dirt and in with 35k maiden claimers. 5

Race 3

Trainer Kory Owens is a dangerous trainer with first-time starters and he sends out No. 4 Shared Image whose dam has dropped four winners from four starters including a stakes winner and the hustling Kayla Stra gets the call, No. 5 Salsita gets off the grass and may end up the speed if none of the first-time starters pop the gate. No. 6 Mia’s Storm may like the move to the dirt. 4-5-6

Race 4

No. 1 Sidebar got the easy win here in his last start and first on the dirt, she now moves into a starter allowance race, No. 3 Pearl de Vere broke her maiden on this course and has a bullet work for this. No. 5 Callous Effect gets off the grass and won her only start here. No. 6 Zuzu’s Petals gets a major rider upgrade. 1-3-5-6

Race 5

Jockey Flavien Prat is due to strike with a price and he gets on No. 1 Lady Asano who just missed here at the mile turf distance last October, No. 8 Indecise is back at the spot and distance and surface of her last win and those works that Richard Mandella have put in her have her ready to fire a big shot. 1-8

Race 6

Trainer Jeff Bonde who can strike with a first-time starter sends out No. 1 Not a Love Song whose dam has dropped seven winners from seven starters and that last 5 furlong work says she can run, No. 7 Faith Hope Love was well bet in her first start and showed good speed battling all the way going 6 furlongs on the grass, she now goes 5-1/2 on the dirt. No. 8 Zensational Beauty also got beat in her one and only, showed good early speed only to tire down the lane, she has back-to-back bullets since. Baffert also sends out No. 11 Midnight Dream who has been the beaten chalk in both of her starts, now Mike Smith gets his shot. No. 12 Honey Ride will sit chilly and try and run them all down. 1-7-8-11-12

Race 7

Down the hill they go, No. 6 As Rulers Go looked impressive when winning her 6 furlong turf sprint at Hollywood, she may like going down the hill, the same can be said about No. 9 Famous Alice who exits our HTW list. 6-9

Race 8

THE GRADE II LA CANADA 

No. 2 Ondine has won two of her three starts at this 1-1/16 distance including her maiden breaker over this course, her works are scary, No. 4 Fiftyshadesofhay is the stablemate of Ondine and on classy filly, she will try and turn the tables on No. 5 Broken Sword who beat her last time out. 2-4-5

Race 9

We finish the day at Santa Anita with 25k 4yo and up fillies and mares going down the hill, No. 7 Tangerine Tickle is in good form and will like this course, the last time No. 10 Blushing Martha won was on this course when Tyler Baze rode here last February and he is back on today. 7-10

GOLDEN GATE

Race 1

No. 3 Brilliant Melody will sit chilly behind No. 2 Kitty Marie and try and catch her on the line. 2-3

Race 2

No. 4 Fly Blue and No. 6 Dr. Williams ran second and third in the same race, they may hit the wire together again today. 4-6

Double 

1st 2-3

2nd 4-6

Race 3

Lots of early speed in this 5-1/2 furlong sprint, so the speed of the speed could take this or someone will take back and run the tired frontrunners down in the stretch, No. 7 Highly Cynical will be the speed of the speed with the drop to this level and may not get caught. 7

Race 4

No. 6 Surprise Sale gets back on the synthetic surface and that makes him tough to beat in this spot. 6

Race 5

No. 3 Spectrus may be able to handle the rise in class first off the claim. 3

Race 6

No. 2 More Champagne goes long for the high percentage Antonio Diaz, No. 7 Trice Up could wake up with the drop to this level. 2-7

Race 7

No. 1 Trouble X Two drops trying to cash, No. 3 Stretch Home has finished second in all three of his starts here sprinting and now will try and go a mile. No. 6 Good Company ships in and gets a big drop in class. No. 9 Time to Glow looks the one to beat with the drop to this level and the fact that Baze gets the call for Bill Morey. 1-3-6-9

No. 3 Flamin Hot Mama hates to win but is a must use in the exotics as she is always there at the end, No. 5 Pairodice Ridge will find the perfect pace to make her last run. 3-5

No. 3 Koos Is Loose has found a soft spot on the drop, No. 7 Dreamin Grand ran a good one when dropped to this level in his last start. 3-7
