SANTA ANITA

Race 1

We start this huge 11 race card hoping the heat has let up and we get in a good Preakness day of racing. We have $16k 3yo fillies going 6-1/2 furlongs. No. 4 Parada comes back in a good spot. He never ran a step on the grass when sent down the hill and then came and won a $30k maiden claimer going 7 furlongs. He than never ran a step when sent to Golden Gate and went a mile on the grass, he is now back on the dirt and the jockey who rode him to that easy 7 furlong win Fernando Perez is back on. 4

Race 2

No. 3 Pass the Pico has burned some cash of late, he drops to the level of his near misses. No. 2 Wine Stock could be the price in here as he gets back to the dirt after three straight on the grass, he drop in class looks to be a wakeup call. 2-3

Double

1st 4

2nd 2-3

Race 3

Only five runners in this 1-1/16 dirt route and No. 4 Seeking the West could end up being the lone speed. No. 2 Midnite View gets his third start off the layoff and has a blistering bullet work here on the 11th. 2-4

Race 4

THE GRADE III AMERICAN 1 MILE ON THE GRASS

No. 1 Winning Prize is 2-for-2 on this grass course with a Grade I and Grade II win. He has won five of six with a second going this mile distance, bet him to cash. No. 2 Obviously couldn’t handle Wise Dan and most can’t, he will try and take them wire-to-wire. 1-2

Race 5

Hollendorfer drops No. 2 Too Fast to Pass into a good spot and he puts the bug boy Van Dyke in the irons. Sadler claimed No. 3 Explain for $62,500 and now drops this 5yo gelding in for a $20k tag, all is not well but he still could win this. 2-3

Race 6

Down the hill they go, trainer Carla Gaines can bring a horse back ready to roll and she sends out No. 3 I Earned It Baby who ran back-to-back good races as a 2yo, this one is live. No. 8 Number Five has run good in all three of his starts going down the hill, Gary Stevens is listed to ride if he is not on Bayern in the Preakness. No. 9 Incline Village has run back-to-back big races going down the hill and he gets a great post for this. 3-8-9

Exacta box 3-8-9 and win and place 3

Race 7

Iggy and Aguirre hook up with comebacker No. 2 Real Deal Appeal, he will be flying out of the gate. No. 3 Compulsive also comes off the layoff and gets Tyler Baze, he has some good works for his return. After those two this it’s anyones race and it could lite up the tote. 2-3

Race 8

$50k maidens go a mile on the grass. No. 1 Indian Gods is really unlucky to still be a maiden, he just missed in his last start at this mile turf distance here last April and he has some good works for his comeback, Maldo will be gunning from the rail. Kent Desormeaux gets on the well bred dropper No. 5 Grachus the Hunter who will go much better at this level on the grass. No. 6 Rob’s Pal usually makes his late run but just can’t get the job done but he is a must use in the exotics. No. 7 Public Interest ran a solid 3rd with straight maidens here back in January, he has a nice last work. No. 9 Misdeed just missed when a close 3rd behind Rob’s Pal when making his first start at this $50k level. 1-6-7-9

Race 9

THE $75K ANGEL’S FLIGHT AT 7 FURLONGS

Gary Stevens was on No. 4 Satirical when she broke her maiden here and now he gets back on. Mike Smith gets back on No. 5 Empress of Midway who was last running at Sunland Park with JR riding for Doug O’Neill as the musical jockeys in this race. No. 7 Delta Flower is in from Oaklawn Park and lands in the barn of Jerry Hollendorfer, this filly can fight it out and looks very dangerous. 4-5-7

Race 10

Maiden fillies and mares go down the hill. No. 1 Warren’s Jen Fizz almost got there going down the hill last time out but just missed by a head. No. 10 Q’Viva may like this course after going a mile on the grass last time out. No. 11 Asparagus looks live first out of the box. 1-10-11

Race 11

Trainer Cody Autrey who hasn’t had much success here in the past looks to have a live runner in from Oaklawn Park No. 1 Fight the Power. Trainer John Sadler brings back No. 2 Rocked Twice who was a solid second here last December. He also sends out No. 7 Presiding Justice first off the claim and this one also exits our HTW list. 1-2-7

GOLDEN GATE

Race 1

Jockey Juan Hernandez gets on the Ed Moger big dropper comebacker No. 2 Daugava who just may like it here. Moger also sends out No. 7 Lady Lionheart for her second start, she ran a nice even race in her first outing when running against No. 6 Wonderful Becky. 2-6-7

Race 2

A full field of 2yo’s, we will watch the tote board and look for the money to show, or just hit the all button.

Race 3

No. 6 Pray Hard has been facing much better at Santa Anita, he gets off the grass and back to a sprint and Mr. H looks to have him spotted for the win. 6

Race 4

We get 3yo going a mile on the grass. No. 1 Sawyer’s Hill was sent against California Chrome last time out in the San Felipe, what were those connections thinking? No. 3 Swing for Defence was a close second going a mile on the grass in his last start which was his first on the grass. No. 7 Oso Smart was a close 3rd in his last start at Santa Anita back in March going 1-1/8 on the grass. 1-3-7

Race 5

No. 8 Deception Free has won 2 of his 3 starts here and will find a lot of early speed to set up his late run. 8

Race 6

No. 1 Loveintheshadows exits our HTW list off a near miss on a yielding turf course last time out going 1-1/16, she goes a mile on the grass today and will be right there. No. 2 Seattle Charlie is in from Santa Anita for Jerry Hollendorfer and he puts Russell the Muscle in the irons and he will try and take them wire-to-wire. No. 4 Star Field had her prep and now gets the stretchout on the grass. No. 6 Top Tizzy will try and give Seattle Charlie all she can handle on the front end. 1-2-4-6

Race 7

No. 7 Osmosis was bet down to 2/1 first off the layoff and first at this $4k claiming level, he came home fast and now looks set for the win. No. 9 Party With Artie exits the same race a race in which he had a very wide trip, he gets Carr today and we look for a big effort form off the pace. No. 3 Lookout Scout will be the one that they will try to run down. 3-7-9

Exacta box 3-7-9

Race 8

No. 6 Beast of Bourbon comes off a little layoff and he has won 2 of his 4 turf starts here. No. 8 Olympic Blue is back in town and he has won all three of his turf starts here. 6-8

Race 9

No. 1 Amaranth came off the layoff and spanked them last time out, she could come right back. No. 8 Free Money will find a hot early pace, she will sit right off the hot pace and make one run down the lane as she looks for the hat trick. 1-8

THE PREAKNESS STAKES

California Chrome will get the perfect setup once again as Bayern and Social Inclusion will be out setting a torrid early pace with Pablo Del Monte trying to stay with them. Social Inclusion will put them away but the early battle will take enough out of him to set up the late rush by California Chrome. General A Rod if able to sit off the hot pace has enough tactical speed to stay for a top prize with Kid Cruz and Ride On Curlin making late runs for a piece.
