Early speed galore in this 5-1/2 furlong sprint. No. 6 Xuang Feng can sit right off the hot pace and pounce. He gets a move up in class off a nice win in his last start at this distance and also has real nice 4 furlong work since the race. No. 2 Forin Sea is the stranger danger and a horse with closing ability, his trainer can bring them back off the layoff and score. 2-6

Down the hill they go. No. 2 Stormberg gets his second start off the layoff, he needs a patient ride as he was a little headstrong in his first off the layoff. No. 5 Snowday gets his second off the layoff and second in the country, he tried Grade III types in his first and will be very tough with these. 2-5

Race 3

Trainer Cody Autrey has not had a lot of success with his horses on this circuit the past few years since he has been coming here but looks to have a live runner in No. 1 Seans Silverdancer and he puts Van Dyke in the irons. No. 5 Consecrate got the win for Baffert when dropped in for $75k back in March going this mile distance, she could come right back. No. 6 Buckingham Bull is one of two entered in this race by trainer Vladimir Cerin, this one is on a win everyother race pattern and this is her win race. 1-5-6

Race 4

$50k maiden 3yo fillies go 6-1/2 furlongs on the dirt, Kent Desormeaux who has been riding like he really wants to stay here gets on first time starter No. 8 Peg’s Journey for Hector Palma who has put in a solid work pattern in this filly and the price will be right. After going a mile on the grass in her first two starts with straight maidens No. 1 Princesskatiebella drops and gets off the grass, look for better today. 1-8

Race 5

3yo $80k optional claiming fillies go a mile on the grass. No. 1 Magic Spot is 2-for-2 on the grass and 2-for-2 at this mile turf distance. No. 3 Lady of the Nile exits our HTW Golden Gate list, she shipped there for trainer Dan Blacker and just missed by a dwindling head, The hard trying Fernando Perez gets the call today. No. 7 Cause Im a Bigshot ran good at this level and distance last time out in her second off the layoff, she looks ready for her best today off of that May 17th work. 1-3-7

Race 6

No. 3 Midnight Storm finished second in his first two sprinting and now will try a mile, his breeding says yes. No. 9 Yard Line has really burned some serious cash in his last two starts losing at .80 cents on the dollar and 9/5, the mile could be the maiden breaker. 3-9

Race 7

THE GRADE II CHARLES WHITTINGHAM AT 1-1/4 ON THE GRASS

No. 8 Joelito could get the best trip sitting behind the early speed and should be able to get the distance. No. 9 Dr Action is the price place in this race, he won at this distance on the grass in Peru and gets his second start in the US, he could surprise at bombshells. 8-9

Race 8

No. 3 Winninginfashion comes off a little layoff and drops into a good spot, she will like this 6-1/2 furlong distance. No. 6 Incredible Journey drops and gets off the grass and also gets a turn back in distance and gets Van Dyke riding. No. 8 Brandon’s Princess is in top form and she gets the bug girl Amelia Green. If she can hang on she has a big shot as this filly just did miss one race back going 7 furlongs. 3-6-8

Race 9

The last race of the day we get maidens going 1 mile on the grass. Trainer A C Avila has been heating up since he went to jockey Tiago Pereira and he rides No. 5 It Is Living Water who is just sitting on the maiden breaker. No. 6 Tuff Storm ran better than looked in his first start when running behind Living Water going down the hill, he will go much better today. No. 10 Zim N the Mailman is a first time starter who is bred for the grass and No. 11 Durango Flier was 7/2 against Living Water when they went a mile on the grass and that ended up a key race. 5**-6-10-11

GOLDEN GATE

Race 1

No. 6 Good Company almost got here when dropped to this level in his last start going this mile distance, he only needs to repeat that effort to win. 6

Race 2

In ugly race number two, No. 5 Little Prince at least has some early speed and gets a top jock. Today looks to be his day and if not now maybe never. 5

Race 3

$20k 3yo maidens go 1-1/16 on the grass. No. 1 Bertrane ships in from Santa Anita, he lands in the barn of John Martin, drops in class and gets Baze as all systems are a go. No. 4 Southern Digs just missed when sent long on the grass last time out and is the one to beat. 1-4

Race 4

No. 1 Bondis Silver doesn’t like to win many but may get brave and find herself on the front end today. Dennis Carr gets on dropper No. 5 A Clever Ten who has 7 seconds from 14 starts here, the drop and jockey switch can only help. 1-5

Race 5

No. 2 Crusher ran ok at Santa Anita back in February when going a mile on the grass. He has a bullet work for this 1-1/16 turf route. No. 4 More Champagne won in his first turf try here going a mile on a yielding course, he may have found his niche. 2-4

Race 6

Hollendorfer and Baze hook up on first time starter No. 1 Nice’n Sunny whose dam Nice’n Groovy has dropped 6 winners from 7 starters. No. 3 Rockin Denile ran some very good races as a 2yo, he could be faster now that he is three. No. 4 Louden’s Gray comes to town for trainer Kristin Mulhall and she has won with 2 of her 3 shippers here and this colt will be playing catch me if you can. 1-3-4

Race 7

No. 3 Noble Kent had a case of the wides on both turns in his last race but still just lost by 1-1/4 lengths, he will now try the grass again. No. 4 Eldorado Prado will be launching from far back. No. 6 Marshal Marini will try and take them wire-to-wire as he will try and beat No. 7 Salah Champ who beat him by 3/4 of a length last time out. 3-4-6-7

Race 8

No. 5 Touchdownwilson just missed by a head in his first start here off the layoff, he will be hard to beat today. No. 7 Nacho Preacher exits the same race and will be the speed. 5-7

Race 9

No. 3 Tama County comes back to town and gets a big drop in class. No. 4 Extensive gets his second shot here and also drops, all is not well with either of them. After those two this is very wide open. 3-4
