THE GRADE I SHOEMAKER MILE
Obviously No. 1 Obviously will try and take these wire-to-wire. Todd Pletcher ships in the classy No. 2 Jack Milton with Castellano coming along for the ride. Grade I winner of his last race No. 4 Winning Prize will be right on the shanks of Obviously, he is also 2-for-2 here at Santa Anita and both have been at this mile turf distance. Trainer Christophe Clement will try and really put it to the West after beating California Chrome in the Belmont he brings in No. 5 Summer Front with Joe Bravo in for the ride, he is fresh fit and dangerous. 1-2-4-5
THE GRADE I VANITY
Bill Mott ships in No. 3 Grace Hall who bombed here in the BC Ladies Classic last year. She was given some time off and ran a nice one in the Grade II Ruffian at Belmont. Rosario rides and she looks ready for a huge effort second off the long layoff. Jerry Hollendorfer who has some home field advantage in this race sends out No. 4 Let Faith Arise who has 2 wins and 2 seconds here at Santa Anita. It looks like it is those two that will control this race with Grace sitting off the pace and making one run down the lane.
We finish the big day at Santa Anita with maiden fillies and mares going down the hill. No. 3 Euroclydon just did get beat in her last going down the hill with winners last time out and Kent D sticks. No. 4 Duke of Doom gets a major boost back up the class ladder by trainer Bill Morey off a nice win. No. 5 Sandor rarely runs a bad race and is a show players dream horse as he has hit the board in all ten of his starts here on this course. 4-5
No. 1 Osmosis has been a hanging plug even with Baze riding and over bet which he will be once again so we will try and beat him again and go with dropper No. 3 Song of the Times with Dennis Carr sitting off the hot pace and surging late for the win. 3
Not much early speed in this 1-1/16 turf route so we will side with the two that will be out there early; No. 3 China Girl Lover who is in from Santa Ania and No. 5 Marshal Marini the likely pace setter and the one to beat. We will also use No. 4 Eldorado Prado a 3 time winner on this turf course. 3-4-5**
Win and place 5 and a key exacta box 5 with 3-4
This is one bad $4k claimer. No. 3 Jordon River ran his best race here at this level last June 14th exactly one year to the day when finishing a good second going long, he had his prep and looks like the one to take a shot with. 3
