2yo maidens go a flat mile on the grass, No. 1 Rockin Robin has some turf breeding and may like going long on the grass in this his second start. No. 4 Pretentious made a five wide run down the lane in his last start which was his first going long and first on the grass. No. 11 Willing to Travel has run all four of his races on the grass, he just missed last out at this mile turf distance at Santa Anita by a dwindling head.

No. 1 Galehorn showed a fondness for this course when finishing a solid second here just eight days ago, we will take our shot and single in the players pick five. 1

THE $200K GRADE III NATIVE DIVER

No. 2 Tamarando was on the Kentucky Derby trail early on for Hollendorfer, he has won two of his three starts here with a second, he will need some pace to make his late run and he will get it. No. 3 Blue Tone will sit chilly right off the hot pace and try and get the jump on Tamarando. 2-3

Another maiden 2yo race on the grass and this one goes at 1-1/16. No. 3 Grand Sky just missed going down the hill at Santa Anita in his first start, he has two works here and should get the distance. No. 9 Bolo exits our HTW list, he was well bet and well meant in his first start a better than looked 5th, he will be very tough today. No. 11 Film Freak ran huge in his first try going lone on the grass and will be making a big late run with Gray Stevens getting the leg up for his buddy Tom Proctor. 3-9-11

No. 10 Counting Days the likely chalk in this race is just 1 for 18 but  has some early speed and just missed here on the 13th, Tyler will try and get him home today. No. 5 Fonz seems to be moving forward and gets a move back up the call ladder and Bejarano sticks. No. 3 Designated ran behind Counting Days last out and could be closer today. 3-5-10

THE $150K GRADE III JIMMY DURANTE

2yo fillies go a mile on the grass, trainer Graham Motion who has a few here sends out No. 2 Rainha Da Bateria who gets big race Mike Smith in the irons, she is on a win every other race pattern and this is her win race. No. 3 Belle Et Bete is in from Ireland where she won her last three starts. No. 7 Bobbi Grace gets her second start in the states, she was a nice third at Santa Anita going this mile turf distance in the Surfer Girl. No. 9 Jaded Glory is the stablemate of Bobbi, she won at first asking going down the hill at Santa Anita when well bet, she losses Mike Smith but gets Gary Stevens. 2-3-7-9

Race 7

No. 3 Spring Moon comes off the layoff for Baffert, she was very fast last year and will be faster as a 3yo, she broke her maiden on the course, we think BB has her ready to roll. 3

Race 8

THE $300K HOLLYWOOD DERBY 

All eyes will be on No. 5 California Chrome who makes his turf debut after a narrow loss in the BC Classic. No. 4 Sawyer’s Hill has some good early speed, he will be on or near the pace and haw won two of three on this course with a second, Bejarano gets the leg up today. 4-5

Race 9

In this maiden race for 2yo fillies going 6-1/2 furlongs No. 1 Dea is out of the dam Di’s Time who has dropped 6 winners from 6 starters, she has three works here. Mike Smith sticks around to ride first time starter No. 2 Longstocking who looks very sneaky. No. 7 Rue de Cry is out of the dam Lexington Girl who has dropped 4 winners from 4 starters. Gary Stevens sticks around to ride No. 8 Redheads Rule for trainer Peter Miller who can strike with a first time starter, this filly has three works over the course.

GOLDEN GATE

Race 1

No. 5 Runfasterelse gets off the grass and has won 6 of her 13 starts on the synthetic, she is the only won in here that has won on this course. 5

Race 2

No. 4 Just Pipe Down never ran a step in his first start going this distance on the grass in his first start when well bet, he moves to the synthetic surface and will move forward. No. 6 Senna comes in from Del Mar and has found a real soft group of $20k maiden claimers. 4-6

Race 3

No. 3 Sky Tribute likes this course, has early speed and just missed last out and now gets the hot riding Ricardo Gonzalez. No. 6 Cavalla exits the same race. 3-6

Race 4

In this mile turf race No. 4 Loveintheshadows ran right behind No. 6 Magnificent Shirl who gets Baze back on today. 4-6

Race 5

No. 2 Seduire is the speed and will try and hold off No. 3 Lutine Belle. 2-3

Race 6

No. 3 Kuuipo comes back to the Gate after facing better at Emerald Downs, she ran her back in May and June with straight maidens and now drops in with $12,500 maiden claimers and may have found a group she can beat. 3

Race 7

2yo fillies go a mile on the grass in this starter allowance race. No. 3 Seattle Firm looks like a short price winner in here, she owns a win over this turf course at this distance and a narrow loss last out. No. 5 Up to Speed looks the main danger as she ran right behind Seattle Firm last out. Russell Baze gets on No. 6 Pulpit Hanna who exits the same race and Baze was on this filly when she broke her maiden going a mile on this turf course. 3-5-6

Race 8

It’s either No. 4 Redstone on the big drop at a short price or do the El Paso, but No. 9 Single Launch is in top form, won his last race here and will get a good trip. 4-9

Race 9

No. 7 Olympic Jumble gets his first start off the Aggie Ordonez claim and he sends him long on the grass and the price will be right as the blinkers go on. No. 10 Myaggieisawildcat owns a win and a second on the course which is more than most and the drop in class looks to have him spotted for the win.
