No. 3 Guyfromtheskyfive has finished second in all three of his races while burning some serious cash in his last two when going off at .80 cents on the dollar and 9/5, he is a must use and you may want to back wheel just in case he wants to finish second again and some big longshot sneaks in for the win. No. 10 Top Estate is a first time starter for trainer Kory Owens who hits at .30% with debut maiden claimers, he could be the price play. 3-10

No. 4 Surfing Angel has run two times and both were on this course with a win and a second. No. 5 Como Mi Padre gets his first start off the maiden breaker and the Ron Ellis claim, we like the fact that he puts him in this claim proof race. No. 7 May B looks the speed in this his second off the layoff. 4-5-7

Race 3

No. 3 Hurry Up Henry has found a good spot to move forward and the price will be square. Paco Lopez gets the ride on No. 10 Life On Riviera who has been well bet in all three of his starts. 3-10

Race 4

No. 1 Wabel exits our HTW list off a solid try first out of the box, his last two works say he is on go. No. 4 Steam Play is the stablemate of Wabel and Bafferts go to rider Martin Garcia who rode both last out choses the Steam Play. No. 6 Iancol also exits our HTW list as a $$$ play, he ran right behind Wabel in that race. No. 7 Micks Miracle has been working a hole in the wind here for trainer D’Amato.

No. 2 Crux exits out HTW list off back to back big efforts on the grass. No. 5 Press Baron is 0-7 on this turf course but can get a piece. No. 7 Christopher Street likes this course and finished right behind the Press Baron last out as did No. 8 Wanstead Gardens. 2-5-7-8

Race 6

THE $300K GRADE I LA BREA

We will take a big shot in this very wide open 7 furlong race and single No. 3 Thank You Marylou as Joel Rosario will ride for Mike Maker, she will find a super fast early pace that will set up her late run, she could get up at a price. 3

THE $200K GRADE II MATHIS BROTHERS MILE

We will stay outside and use No. 9 Home Run Kitten who has won 4 of his 7 starts on this course and 2-of-3 at this mile distance. No. 10 Long On Value won the Twilight Derby here on BC day for Bill Mott and big race Mike Smith. No. 12 Talco ran right behind Long On Value in that race, Sadler looks to  have him prime for a big run today. 9-10-12

THE $300K GRADE I MALIBU 

Another wide open 7 furlong race, No. 2 Chitu has never been worse than second with the exception of his Kentucky Derby debacle. No. 3 Indianapolis won his first three starts and then bombed in the BC sprint. No. 8 Shared Belief will likely be odds on to win this off his BC Classic effort. 2-3-8

Race 9

2yo maiden fillies go a mile on the grass to end opening day at Santa Anita the Great race place. No. 5 Scattagirl is bred for the grass and the trip and Kent D will ride. No. 8 Paulina’s Love is back where she belongs after facing Grade III company in her last start and Gary Stevens sticks around for the ride. No. 12 Oui Bear is a sneaky looking first time starter for Dick Mandella and uses Flavien Prat, very interesting long shot. 5-8-12

Race 1

No. 2 Dreamsrmadeof ran good at this mile distance with stronger last out, No. 4 Act Naturally gets the Blinkers off and goes long for the first time. No. 6 Flatter’s Secret exits the same race as Dreamsrmadeof.

Race 2

No. 2 Bev’s Finale gets a big drop in class, he may need to sit chilly today and make one run turning for home. No. 4 Royal Alexei also gets the big drop, he has big early speed and gets Baze. No. 5 Sooo Major comes off a trouble trip. 2-4-5

Race 3

Lots of early zip in this 1-1/16 turf route so we will use No. 2 Three Strike Rule who has the ability to sit right off the hot pace. No. 7 Waltztothewindo is the best closer. 2-7

Race 4

Baze gets on No. 2 Awesome Leap for trainer Steve Sherman and looks the one to beat. No. 3 Poison Pulpit exits the same race and is the speed. 2-3

Race 5

2yo maidens go a mile on the grass, No. 4 Percy Fawcett is a Big Brown and will love the grass. No. 5 Unbridled Candy is a Candy Ride and he will also love the grass. 4-5

No. 2 Tribal Dude is in from Del Mar for Hess who puts Baze on, he may like it here. No. 9 Intaxication is also in from Del Mar, he has big early speed. 2-9

Race 7

No. 1 Exotic Slew is on a win everyother race pattern and this is his win race. No. 2 I’m Not Gray drops off the layoff but fits at this level and likes this course. 1-2

Race 8

No. 3 Jacksons a Bobcat gets a big drop in class and will be hard to beat at what looks to be odds on. No. 9 Bershinsky is a first time starter with upset on his mind. 3-9

Race 9

No. 2 Dream Serenade was well bet in her first start at Los Al, she showed good early speed but faltered late and now gets the big drop in class. No. 7 Papa Clone is a Steve Sherman first time starter who gets the improving but boy Carson Sullivan. No. 8 Saint Mamie is another shipper big dropper. 2-7-8
