Race 2

Maiden fillies and mares go down the hill, comebacker No. 4 Sweeter Thancandy ran huge going down the hill here as a 2yo, she will be much faster as a 3yo and that last work has her ready to fire a big shot. No. 7 Emyvale Court exits our HTW list off three straight seconds going down the hill, she now gets Stevens riding for his buddy Tom Proctor, bet her to cash. 4-7

Race 3

No. 1 Rambling House has run back to back good seconds at this level. No. 5 He’s a Real Keeper blasted home to get his maiden breaker in start number 15, the light finally went off and we look for another big effort today. 1-5

Race 4

In this downhill turf sprint No. 3 Vanlose Stairway finds a good spot and gets Martin Garcia in the irons. The lightly raced No. 7 Queenofhercastle gets back to a sprint and just may like this downhill turf course. No. 9 Q’ Viva has run down the hill five times and she finished second in four of those five, she is a must use. 3-7-9

Race 5

THE GRADE I $300K VANITY

No. 1 Warren’s Veneda has gotten very good and comes off an eye popping win in the Grade 1 Santa Margarita at this 1 1/8 distance, she will be a short favorite in this four horse field. 1

Race 6

High percentage Northern California trainer Andy Mathis claimed No. 1 I’m Not Gray for $16k and shipped him here for $25k, he must really like what he has and it’s interesting that Bejarano gets the call. No. 2 Como Mi Padre will go much better today with the move back to dirt and that last work says he is going good. No. 7 Grazen’s Hope also ships in and he was running with some good ones at the Gate. 1-2-7

Race 7

No. 5 Pat the Bear is in top form and exits a productive race in which he lost a heartbreaker by a dwindling neck, we will take our shot with him and single in the late pick four. 5

THE GRADE III $100K AMERICAN

No. 4 Gabriel Charles came off a long layoff and ran a decent second behind the upcoming Midnight Star. No. 3 Winning Prize gets his third start off the layoff and looks ready for his best today. No. 7 Home Run Kitten gets back to a flat mile, he will be flying late. Papa Mandella sends out the question mark runner of the race in No. 8 Bal a Bali who won 11 of his 12 starts in Brazil, he has put some good works into him and he could be dangerous down the lane. 3-4-7-8

Race 9

Trainer Doug O’Neill sends out two runners in this $20k maiden claimer and both are dropping in class. Second time starter No. 1 Hired Gun who was sent off as the chalk in his first start but never ran a step, he has a good last work and gets a new jock. No. 9 Smooven Square who drops in with maiden claimers for the first time, she will be showing all of his early speed today. Phil D’Amato sends out comebacker No. 10 Sure Victory, he exits a key race back in 2013 in his one and only start. 1-9-10

GOLDEN GATE

Race 1

No. 2 Stylish Copy missed by a neck when dropped to this level for the first time. No. 5 Sea Royalty ships in, gets the big drop in class and the hot riding David Lopez. 2-5

Race 2

No. 1 Tough Knot may have found his correct level to get his maiden breaker. No. 2 Bananappeal comes off the layoff, gets a drop in class and looks to have found a good spot. 1-2

Race 3

No. 1 Emerald Green has done little wrong in her two grass starts with a win and a narrow second. No. 3 Woodys Wharf bombed here in her two starts on the grass 4 months ago and then went on the shelf, she comes back claim proof and that is a very good sign for this top conditioner. 1-3

Race 4

No. 2 Warren’s Joe T. is in top form and jockey Hernandez rides him perfectly. No. 4 Step On the Gas gets back on the main and will try and out run them on the front end. No. 5 Storm Fashion gets his second start off the Sherman claim and he gets off the grass and Baze says he will ride. 2-4-5

Race 5

$20k maiden fillies and mares go 1 mile on the grass, No. 4 Tizmiss is in from Santa Anita for trainer Richard Mandella, he has been facing much tougher there and the drop should get her home. 4

Race 6

No. 4 Convoy has been right there in his last four starts here and has a good last work. No. 6 Fighting On exits the same race and he finished a nose behind the Convoy.

THE $50K GOLDEN POPPY

No. 1 Handfull comes back to town off a nice win at Santa Anita, she is a win machine, Tom Proctor ships in No. 2 Theatre Star who had a nice prep down the hill for this, she has won 2 of 3 starts at this 1 1/16 turf distance. 1-2

Race 8

No. 3 Just After Sunset is in good form and will once again try and run down the speedy No. 7 Kuuipo who is looking for her 4th straight win. 3-7

Race 9

Maiden 3yo go a mile on the grass. No. 1 Solomon Bay gets his second try on the grass, he is bred to love it and will go better today. No. 9 Ultra Sharp ran good down the hill at Santa Anita and now gets his first shot at going long on the grass, his trainer ships to win. No. 3 Affluent Asset ran a good second here in his one try on the grass. 1-3-9
