Race 1

Opening day at Los Al TB so tread lightly and carry a small wallet. Remember last year the inside in the sprints was not the place to be so we will see what happens in today’s first race. It is a 6 furlong sprint for $10k fillies and mares and as normal only five runners take to the course in this sad way to start a meet. We get one of our favorite hook ups here with Iggy riding No. 3 It’s Aine for trainer Aguirre on the big drop in class, this mare is a three time winner here. No. 5 Shy Rosa comes off of back-to-back wins and will get the jump on It’s Aine and will try and hold her off down the lane. 3-5

Race 2

No. 4 Coach John gets Santiago Gonzalez back in the irons and this 3yo gelding ran his best race with him on one race back. Both No. 8 Big Hat Charlie and No. 9 Thor’s Champion get needed drops in class and that will make them very dangerous. 4-8-9

Race 3

2yo maidens go 5 furlongs, No. 3 Esmeralda Belle gets her 4th start and takes the blinkers off, she may like it here. No. 5 Pulpit Rules showed improvement last out and has a bullet work since. No. 8 Aiming Straight gets Tyler and that could get this filly home on top. 3-5-8

Race 4

$20k maidens go 5-1/2 furlongs, No. 3 Warren My Boy finds his easiest group on the drop in class and Tiago Pereira gets back on. No. 5 Cowtownmary has the early speed and will be the one to beat at a short price in this his second off the layoff. 3-5

Race 5

No. 5 Keegers ran a good second here last year and drops into an action spot. Maldo will be gunning No. 8 Domingo Cat from the bell. 5-8

Race 6

No. 5 Leothelion gets a double drop in class and this trainer hits at .80% with this move though he is coming off of more than 2 years down time. No. 10 Pax Tecum gets a drop in class and a turn back in distance. He also gets the new bug boy Bruno Panicucci, if Bruno can hang on he could win this by default. 5-10

Race 7

The $100K Bertrando

No. 7 Soi Phet is 2 for 2 here and won this race last year, its just a matter of what those last two races have done to his head. No. 10 Alert Bay is one tough cookie and gets his second off the layoff. No. 1 Spirit Rules can handle the track and finished second behind Soi Phet here last year in this race. 1-7-10

6th 5-10

7th 1-7-10

Race 8

Maiden fillies and mares go 6 furlongs to end opening day at Los Al TB. No. 2 Nite Delite exits a nice key race in which she had some trouble. We look for a big run today, this filly has been stabled here and is the one to beat. First time starter No. 7 Lily Pod gets Bejarano riding for Baltas and this has been a hot hook up of late. 2-7

Exacta box 2-7 and win and place 2
