We start the day with a field of eight going 1 3/8 on the grass, No. 8 Image of Joplin has found his form and the bug boy Ty Kennedy fits like a glove as he will again try and take this 4yo gelding wire-to-wire. Jockey Mario Gutierrez is riding like a champ and he is on No. 7 Small Town Cop who will fall into a good stalking position. No. 4 Crucero gets some class relief and has the hot combo of Kent D and his brother going for him. 4-7-8

Race 2

No. 5 Lucy De comes off the layoff for trainer Mike Puype, she was well bet in her one and only last year and she looks ready to roll as the blinkers go on. 5

Race 3

2yo 50k maiden fillies go a flat mile on the dirt, it’s interesting that Kent D rides No. 6 Blue Chat for Hess and his brother also has a runner in the race, he rode Blue Chat last time out and now she gets stretched out, No. 7 Tanager drops in with maiden claimers and gets a major rider upgrade. No. 8 Chalking It Up looks the one to beat off her last going this distance when dropped in to this level. 6-7-8

Race 4

No. 2 Great Lou gets his second start off the Hollendorfer claim and will be hard to beat off that last work, No. 6 London Legacy comes back to town and gets Bejarano who will be making a late run. 2-6

Race 5

No. 6 Formally Wild gets his first start off the O’Neill claim and may be the speed of the speed, No. 4 I’m Zonin will have a shot if he can sit off the hot pace. 4-6

Race 6

Maiden 2yo go a flat mile on the grass, No. 1 The Topester is a Scat Daddy who will like the grass and the trip. Graham Motion is in town and he brings in No. 3 Tusk from Keeneland, this 2yo has hit the board in all three of his starts and all three were going long on the grass and Mike Smith says he will ride. No. 4 Arabian Leopard has not panned out for Baffert but he will try the grass which he is bred for and Baffert puts Martin Garcia back up. The Brother Desormeaux hook up with first-time starter No. 5 Ninety One Assault who is by Artie Schiller so the grass will be this ones game. No. 6 Papa Gulf never got untracked going down the hill at Santa Anita after a slow start, he will like the longer distance. No. 7 Osceola Pond comes off a good second going a mile on the Santa Anita grass. When all is said and done we think Tusk is here for the win. 3

Race 7

No. 1 Logan’s Moon has hit the board in all four of his starts since coming to the West Coast. Very interesting move by trainer Peter Miller with the very speedy No. 5 Oligarch off the big win vs. better. No. 10 Power Jam won at first asking at .40 cents on the dollar for Baffert, bet him to cash. 1-5-10**

Race 8

Betty Grable comes to Del Mar in November for the 100k Betty Grable Stakes, No. 1 Kiss At Midnight is a perfect fit for Betty, this filly is in top form. No. 4 Wild in the Saddle as they say Betty was gets a turn back in distance and is the stablemate of Kiss At Midnight, get where we are going here. 1-4

Maiden 2yo go a mile on the grass, No. 2 Archaeo is bred in the purple for this, he comes off a horrible trip down the hill, No. 7 Tristan’s Trilogy exits the same race and he was the speed. 2-7

Race 1

No. 2 Tribal Waters is in from Emerald Downs, he did not like the sloppy track in his last start, No. 4 Swiss Wager gets off the grass and drops into a live spot. 2-4

Race 2

No. 3 Apollo’s Legacy is the speed, No. 4 Mojave Desert and No. 5 Jakob’s Magic will try and run him down. 3-4-5

Race 3

No. 1 I Heart You comes to town from Del Mar and gets a big drop looking for her level here. No. 2 Imperial Badger is in top form and has found her level since the drop in class. 1-2

Race 4

No. 1 Tickle Again just owned on this mile turf course and looks like a repeater, No. 5 Bench Ruling is the speed and will try and take them wire-to-wire. No. 6 Frandontjudge exits our HTW list from Santa Anita as she ships in for Hollendorfer off a voided claim, he drops her in class but if all is well she wins. 1-5-6

Race 5

No. 3 Power of Nine rarely runs a bad race and will be making her usual late run. No. 6 Sallyana comes to town off of back-to-back wins and finds a good spot for the hat trick. The win machine No. 7 French Alps who has won 14 of her 23 starts is as always the one to beat. 3-6-7

Race 6

20k maiden 2yo fillies travel a mile on the grass, No. 3 Tequila Mary ran ok going this mile turf distance with 32k maidens, she now drops and gets Ricardo Gonzalez up, we will be using as a single. 3

Race 7

No. 1 Lighten the World drops in class and gets Baze, No. 7 Go to the Alter also drops. 1-7

Race 8

No. 5 Orchestral ships back in after a failed try on the off Santa Anita grass course, he has big early speed and owns a win over this course, No. 6 Willard will be launching from far back and could get up. No. 8 Sir Irish Danny got the maiden win last out and could be set to repeat. 5-6-8

Race 9

No. 7 Royal Alexei is out of the dangerous barn of Quinn Howey, No. 9 Paszcatch will sit off the hot pace and run them all down late. 7-9
