Oaklawn Park

Race 1

$40K starter allowance fillies and mares go six furlongs. No. 1 Timely Tradition gets Joel Rosario in this claim-proof spot. No. 11 Jaccat will go better today with jockey Flavien Prat riding today. No. 12 She’s a Dime gets a confident move up the ladder off a good win. 1-11-12

Race 2

Maiden 3-year-old fillies go six furlongs. No. 1 She’s the Boss continues the California invasion. She gets off the grass for trainer Phil D’amato. Jockey Florent Geroux gets on the first-time starter No. 3 Brittle and Yoo for trainer Brad Cox. No. 6 Scolding owns a big last work for her first start as does No. 10 Bonus Baby. 1-3-6-10

Race 3

Arkansas bred allowance runners go six furlongs. No. 2 Captain Don just missed last out in the $100K Rainbow. No. 4 Tempt Fate finished a good third right behind Captain Don. We say it’s a two-horse race. 2**-4**

Race 4

Maidens go six furlongs. No. 8 J Z My Man is just another in from Santa Anita where he went off at 7-5 first out sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass in a troubled race. He now lands in the barn of Joe Sharp.  No. 9 Uncle Addouma has been in steady work mood at Santa Anita. He is live first out. No. 11 Bank is the one to beat. He gets his second start here and second off the layoff. 11***-8-9

Race 5

$75K optional claimers travel 1 1/16 miles. No. 5 Lombo looked good winning last out. He should handle the class hike. No. 8 Two Thirty Five looks to repeat. He looks tough right back. No. 9 Bankit gets some class relief. No. 11 Endorsed was last seen running in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap. He will be our key runner. 11**- 8-9-5

Race 6

Maiden 3-year-olds travel 1 1/8 miles. No. 4 Friar’s Road is another Santa Anita invader. He gets blinkers on and exits a productive race, No.11 Absolute Unit gets his second start here and Joe Talamo up. 4-11

Race 7

$100K optional 3-year-old fillies travel 1 1/16 miles. No. 8 Gamine won first out at Santa Anita when sent off at 1-9. He worked a big bullet there before shipping in and he should be O.K. going long, No.10 Speech also ships in off a good third at this distance in a Grade 3. Javier Castellano gets the leg up. 8-10

Race 8

Allowance runners travel 1 1/16 miles. We will take our shot here a single No. 5 Fra Mauro. He will sit back off what looks to be a fast early pace. Look for him to fly late for the win. 5***

Race 9

$40K optional runners travel 1 1/16 miles. No. 1 Popular Kid is in top form. He just missed last out vs. optional $50K runners, No. 6 Proverb comes off a real nice win. No. 7 Rotation will be tough in his second start off the layoff and a near miss here last out. 6-7-1

Race 10

$80K optional runners travel 1 1/16 miles. No. 7 Candy Tycoon ran second in the Fountain of Youth. He was up the track in the Florida Derby but this is a good spot with J.R. Velasquez up. No. 11 Rushie ships in and gets Joel Rosario up. We will roll the dice. 7-11

Race 11

$500K Grade 1 Arkansas Derby at 1 1/8 miles. This is the first half of the split Arkansas Derby.

Bob Baffert brings in the highly regarded No. 1 Charlatan. He is listed at even money on the morning line. There is other speed in here and that could lead to an upset by No. 4 Gouverneur Morris who many picked to win the Florida Derby. He ran fourth but will get the perfect setup today. Upset special. 4**-1

Race 12

$600K Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap at 1 1/8 miles. No. 7 Combatant was last seen winning the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap. He worked a bullet before shipping in from Southern California. No. 12 By My Standards looks to be sitting on a big effort as does No. 4 Mr. Freeze. 7-12-4

Race 13

$500K Grade 1 Arkansas Derby at 1 1/8 miles. This is the second division and trainer Bob Baffert looks to attempt to take down both ends of this year’s Arkansas Derby as he sends out the talented No. 5 Nadal with Joel Rosario riding. He will be very hard to beat as his works have been sensational. No. 7 Silver Prospector exits the same race as Nadal. Look for a big run today at a price. 5-7

Race 14

$10K starter allowance runners travel 1 3/4 miles in the meet finale. We like No. 5 Carlos Sixes here. He loves this track with three wins from his four races here and one second. No. 1 Dangerfield will be part of the mix from the bell. 5**-1
