Santa Anita

Race 1

We start off this very soft eight-race card with 2-year-old maidens going 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass. No. 1 Freedom Flyer was well-bet first time out going five furlongs on the grass at Del Mar. He gets jockey Juan Hernandez riding and looks set for a big effort. No. 7 Brilliant Cut will go better today with the blinkers going on. 1-7

Race 2

$20K maiden fillies and mares travel a flat mile. This is one sorry group for this level at Santa Anita. Trainer Richard Baltas sends out the uncoupled entry of No. 3 Tiz a Unicorn and No. 5 True Mischief. 3-5

Race 3

$32K maiden 2-year-olds go 5 1/2 furlongs. Just another five-horse field. No. 1 From the Get Go is a first-time starter out of the dam Miss Nicole who has dropped 10 winners from 10 starters and he was scratched yesterday for this easier spot. No. 5 Saturday Justice is the stablemate of From the Get Go. 1-5

Race 4

2-year-old maidens go 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass. No. 9 Astute looks live first out. No. 7 Evoo is bred to love the grass. 9-7

Race 5

$12,500 claimers travel a flat mile as we get yet another five-horse field. This looks like a two-horse race between No. 4 Caymans Cobra and No. 5 Colosi as both drop looking for the win. 4-5

Race 6

$62,500 optional claimers go 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass. No. 2 Grit and Curiosity gets his second start off the layoff and was a good third in the Grade 2 Eddie D last out. No. 4 Mesut exits the Grade 3 Green Flash and is a solid fit. 2***-4

Race 7

$32K 3-year-olds go six furlongs. What a surprise as we get yet another five-horse field. No. 3 Carpe Victoriam gets off the grass and back to his proper level. No. 4 Race Home will be making a big late run. 3-4

Race 8

$50K maidens travel a flat mile on the grass. No. 1 Fire Polish drops from straight maiden races and gets jockey Umberto Rispoli riding. No. 8 Invictatas also drops and he gets jockey Juan Hernandez. 1-8
