19SABERS DAILY HORSE SELECTIONS

Saturday, October 19th

SANTA ANITA

Race 1

Calif. bred maiden 2yo fillies travel a mile on the grass. No. 2 Sassyserb comes off a solid second going this mile turf distance on the Del Mar grass in what was her first try on the grass and first going long. No. 3 Jodie Faster looks the speed on the stretchout and first on the grass. No. 6 Warrior’s Moon exits the same race as Sassyserb. 2-3-6

Race 2

$12,500 fillies and mares travel a flat mile on the main. We only get five runners before scratches in this race at the once great race place and three of them will be out winging on the front end. We will use No. 1 Conformation on the drop, she will sit off the pace. No. 5 Tequilla Sunrise could give Donnie Meche his first win here at Santa Anita as he gets on the Richard Baltas runner. 1-5

Race 3

We get six runners before scratches in this 1-1/16 $25k route for runners who have never won two races. Flavien Prat gets on No. 4 Boogalute whose only win came here at this distance, the drop can only help. No. 5 Broke Away Grey exits a productive race and could be set for his best in this his 3rd off the layoff and a big last work. 5-4

Race 4

Calif. bred maiden 2yo fillies travel a mile on the grass. No. 2 Wicked Fresh comes off a solid 3rd first out of the box going 6 furlongs on the Del Mar Dirt. If she takes to the grass she will be hard to beat. No. 8 Ride Sally Ride has finished 3rd in both of her dirt sprint starts, she may like the longer trip. No. 1 California Kook is a Peter Miller first time starter with the hot Jorge Velez riding. 2-8-1

Race 5

Calif. bred maidens go 6-1/2 furlongs and we get a very soft group. If No. 3 Claim of Passion can run back to his race at Del Mar on August 18th he can win. No. 5 Satchel Paige is his stablemate and has a nice last work. 3-5

Race 6

THE $100K CALAFORNIA FLAG HANDICAP AT 5-1/2 FURLONGS ON THE GRASS

No. 2 Tribalist gets Prat and an extra half a furlong. Tyler Baze will pop No. 1 What a View from the rail and try and take him wire-to-wire. 2***-1

Race 7

Calif. bred maiden 2yo go 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 2 Totally Tiger comes off a nice second at Los Al TB. No. 3 Zero Down was well bet first time out but never got untracked, he gets a new jock today. No. 5 Flat White has a good last work for his first start. 2**-3-5

We finish this sad eight race card at the once great race place with 2yo maiden fillies traveling 5-1/2 furlongs on the grass.
