SANTA ANITA

Race 1

We start this lackluster seven race card at the once great race place with Calif. bred $50k maidens going six furlongs. No. 2 Grandpa Louie drops looking for the maiden win and it looks like he will get it with Flavien Prat getting on today. No. 4 Abusive Gary also drops from straight maiden races. No. 6 Royal Aspirations gets Joel Rosario off the layoff. Rosario rode Louie last out. 2**-4-6

KEY PLAY

KEY EXACTA BOX 2 WITH 4-6

Race 2

$12,500 fillies and mares travel a flat mile. No. 3 Shanghai Barbie has hit the board in all three of her starts here. No. 5 Boonesboro Beauty looks the one to beat on the drops and exits a key race.

5**-3

KEY PLAY

WIN AND PLACE 5 AND AN EXACTA BOX 5-3

Race 3

$40k maiden fillies and mares go 6-1/2 furlongs. We will need to go four deep in the early pick five using No. 3 Chris Is Ready off the layoff for William Spawr with his go to rider up. No. 4 Mucho Macho Woman on the drop and turnback in distance, No. 5 Mela Jones who will show all of her speed on the drop and No. 7 Fresh Face a first timer for Sadler. 3-4-5-7

Race 4

Maidens travel a mile on the grass. No. 8 BORDER TOWN gets his second start at the meet after shipping in from New York and moving from the barn of Chad Brown to Richard Mandella. He ran a great race here when losing the head bob at this level and turf distance last out. Prat sticks and he will be hard to beat today vs. many of the runners who he faced last out. We will bet him win and place and also play some exacta boxes using No. 2 Commanding Chief who was just a half length behind Border Town. No. 3 Muralist also exits the race and No. 4 On Easy Street who exits a key race and just may like the move to the grass. 8***-2-3-4

KEY PLAY

WIN AND PLACE 8 AND A KEY EXACTA BOX 8 WITH 2-3-4

Race 5

$12,500 runners travel a mile on the grass. No. 2 Will Dancer is the speed of the speed off a good wire-to-wire maiden score last out, he is perfectly spotted off the win. After him, anyone can jump up and surprise. 2 (all).

Race 6

$40k optional 3yo go sprinting 5-1/2 furlongs on the grass. No. 3 MOSIENKO looks the one in here off her good back-to-back mile turf races. She is facing the boys here but gets Rosario up in a nice spot. No. 4 Jaxon’s Goldie is a first time starter for Doug O’Neill facing winners. 3-4

Race 7

Calif. bred maiden 3yo go 6-1/2 furlongs. No. 4 Stir the Pot looks live at first asking off back-to-back nice works for this level. No. 6 Audace comes off a little layoff and gets a new hot jock up. No. 8 Lightning Fast moves back to a dirt sprint off a nice last work. 4-6-8
