Saber’s Santa Anita analysis

Race 1 

$40K optional fillies and mares go 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass. No. 5 Shines Her Light won on this layout back in February. No. 6 A Thousand Dreams looked good winning her first try on the grass last July at Del Mar. She looks ready to fire a big shot off the layoff. No. 8 Lofty has won three straight on the grass. No.10 Querelle will be the one to fear late. 5-6-8-10 

Race 2 

Maiden 2-year-old fillies go 4 1/2 furlongs. No. 1 Miss Glorious owns a solid work pattern for her debut race as does No. 4 Judy With Grace. 1-4 

Race 3 

California bred $20K optional claimers go six furlongs. No. 1 Afternoon Heat has hit the board in all nine of his starts. No. 6 Quick Finish looks very live in this spot off the layoff. 1**-6 

Race 4 

California bred fillies and mares go 5 1/2 furlongs. No. 2 Ole Silver looks ready first out off a big work. No. 5 Noor Khan comes off a 10-month layoff and is the stablemate of Ole Silver. No. 9 Sweet Regards just missed first out at Golden Gate. She gets the services of Abel Cedillo riding for trainer Kristin Mulhall. No. 10 Liberalism ran back-to-back seconds last year.  2-5-9-10 

Race 5 

California bred maidens travel a flat mile on the grass. No. 8 Tropical Terror just missed here in his last two races at this distance on the grass. No. 9 Bud Knight exits a key race and his works make him the one to beat. No. 6 Fravel exits the same key race as Bud Knight. 9***-8-6 

Race 6 

$62,500 optional claimers go six furlongs. No. 3 St. Joe Bay is back in town and drops to a level where he will show all of his early speed. No. 4 Rowayton just missed in the Grade 1 H.A. Jerkens at Saratoga last year. No. 7 Collusion Illusion looks ready off his seven-month layoff. 3-4-7 

Race 7 

$50K maiden fillies and mares travel a flat mile. No.1 Sweet Devil gets off the grass and will like the move to the dirt. Trainer Bob Baffert sends out No. 3 Crystal Ball, a  $750K purchase, with one of his go-to riders in the irons. No. 4 Regal Beauty is the stablemate of Crystal Ball. No. 6 Classy Ruler has been well bet in her three races. 3-4-6-1 

Race 8 

The $100k  Desert Stormer at six furlongs for fillies and mares. No. 1 Fighting Mad has been working with a purpose. No. 3 Mother Mother is the stalemate of Fighting Mad with Mike Smith up for trainer Bob Baffert. 1-3 

Race 9 

$25K fillies and mares travel a flat mile on the grass. No. 7 Harper’s Gallop is the speed and gets a big rider upgrade. No. 3 Zucchera exits the same last race as Harper’s Gallop. 7**-3 

Race 10 

$40K optional claimers travel a flat mile. Jockey Mike Smith sticks around to ride the speedy No. 1 Lambeau off a big last work. No. 8 Swamp Souffle was overmatched last out and will go better today. 1-8
